Celebs in PP

I find the fact that David Cameron has shipped up in PP for his holiday to be a non event. Why should we get wound up by the fact that he and other so called "celebs" have probably conned a mate to lend him and his family a villa and is costing the spanish security forces a fortune to look after them whilst they are there. Before anyone says it, no I'm not a labour voter or in anyway politically minded but apart from a particular job he is doing and arguably none too well, he is just like you and me, no better, no worse. I find it's about time we stopped setting people up on a pedestal as a "celeb" and started to look to people who need our help and attention in this world.

I don’t think that you could ever say that he is “just like you and me”. He is the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, and politics aside, I don’t think that the presence of any high-profile individual will do Mallorca any harm whatsoever.

There are sure to be people who have never heard of Pollensa, and reading about it in the paper, or seeing it on the news, may just mean that they consider a visit in future.

I will freely admit that he didn’t get my vote, and that I have been very underwhelmed by his performance in his role, but I am pretty damn sure that the work pressures on him, are considerably greater than those on me.

The port has been my place to “escape from the real world” for many years, and I’m sure that it is the same for a great many other members of this forum. Out of all of the places in this world that he could have chosen, that they chose Pollenca is a huge tribute to appeal of this beautiful area.

Never did I think I'd live to see the day when the Prime Minister of the UK was described as a "celeb"......regardless of your political views he is the holder of the highest and most important office in our country and therefore deserves due respect - and by the way he's not in PP - he's in the Old Town!!!!!!! Where i'll be in 6 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As one who fails to see the appeal of 'celeb gossip' magazines, whether 'Hello' or 'Heat', but still find myself checking out this post on the forum (after spotting John Torode and a couple of soap actors in years gone by!), I find the last couple of posts a bit irritating. I'm probably 'adding fuel to the fire' but for goodness' sake, surely this is not a forum for debate about party politics or the monarchy. To be clear, I do NOT agree that Cameron 'deserves due respect' - respect should be EARNED - and as for HMQ...

Many of us could rant on and on as we vent our woes, moans and groans. Why not save them for 'Private Eye' instead (my choice over 'Hello' anyday) and leave the post free for the good-natured celebrity spotters who just want to spread a little good cheer in tough times?

Personalities is a good word Pollensa, these are just people must of us know about, the term celeb has become a negative term as well, perhaps it should be renamed famous faces in PP!

Absolutely agree and i think we should all remember that celebrities or personalities are really just people. Doesn't matter what jobs they do, like everyone they need to take time out to enjoy doing normal, everyday things with family and friends .

Just to give this thread a diversion from the Prime Minister
We sat on the next table to some of the Emmerdale cast in Scatto Matto the night before the Moors and Christians in Pollensa town. There was Bob from the cafe and Kaine and his wife plus children & friends.
Nice to see them all enjoying this lovely spanish town,

Looks like PP is one 'personality' short this weekend. Bradley Wiggins is riding at Barnoldswick tomorrow, Sunday.

Should be a great day out, riding around Pendle Hill, the Ribble Valley and the Bowland Fells. A super cycling location.

May take time off packing for PP on Saturday to go and spectate. Have to get there early -limited parking. Here is an earlier Nick o Pendle hill climb.

I'm sure you did see him because I know for a fact he is in PP. Last night I went on a sunset cruise on the Tudor Dawn (highly recommended by the way) and Tony and his young family were with us on the yacht!

He's a really nice bloke and very down to earth, I really enjoyed chatting to him. I didn't ask him if he was indestructible though

You should have asked him why the Olympic comittee left it to a couple of days before the closing ceremony before asking him to perform "Gold". No doubt he'd have explained why he (quite rightly) told them to take a hike!
