This topic is starting to appear more reguarly on the board. With more people (such as ourselves) arranging flights independantly of the large travel companies with the likes of Easyjet, how does one sort out accommodation for a day or two.

We have been going to PP for several years now, the last few through Easyjet, having arranged our own accommodation on the web. This year we have two weeks booked from Saturday 10 to Saturday 24 July, and are currently waiting for the Easyjet flights to be announced from Stansted (any day now!) When these appear, it's going to be a lot cheaper to fly, say, on the Thursday 8th, and come back on the Monday, or Tuesday after the second weekend, rather than go Saturday to Saturday.

The problem of course, is most self-catering accommodation(including most of those featured on this site) is only available on a weekly basis, Saturday to Saturday. The other alternative would be to book two or three days with one of the large Hotels, The Illa D'Or, Sis Pins or Bahia for example. Am I right in thinking one can still only book at these Hotels through a major company, Thompson etc. and again, on a minimum weekly basis. This is a great shame because it would be quite nice to have just a day or two at say,The Sis Pins, rather than commit yourself for a whole week, perhaps in order to check it out for a future year.

In the past we have often stayed at The Capri, and if you can obtain one of the six rooms with a sea view balcony, great, if not the rooms leave a lot to be desired. A shame because the Hotel is very friendly, terrific location with lovely staff.

I realise there are one or two places where accommodation can be booked daily, (La Goleta, Eolo ) but the choice is quite limited. Any suggestions or recommendations for a few days either side of a weekend would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there,

first of all if you're flying STN-PMI then something odd seems to have happened with EasyJet & I suspect it may because www.airberlin.com are currently selling some very cheap flights - so check those out.

Re booking extra days, we have done this but tried hotels in other parts of the island i.e. on the way there & back. We've stayed very cheaply in Ca'n Pastilla (near the airport) & also in lovely Banyabulfar on the way home. We've also stayed in the Bahia in October by booking direct - just ring them. Some hotels won't book direct in the Summer.

There are also several good booking services which have a large selection of hotels - see the previous topic on Last Minute bookings pub237.ezboard.com/fpollensaforumfrm2.showMessage?topicID=102.topic

Hope that helps & let us know how you get on!
