Advice on Working in Pollensa

Hi my husaband and I are looking to relocate to Pollensa in March next year (until September but maybe longer), can i ask the best way of applying for work? i know im too early at the moment but thought i'd try and get ahead of the game. is there anything i can do from here? its frustrating having to wait until we are there before finding work as it is frightening to make a move with no idea how long it will take to find work, i would really appreciate any advice thanks

Although I'm not a resident of the Port or Pollensa, I think you will find finding employment in this area won't be easy. The big advantage is being able to speak Spanish, or better still Mallorcan, you mentioned potentially staying later than September, wich would still be wonderful, the reality is September is the end of the holiday season & things will be on a fast wind down, all then becomes very quiet particularly on the employment front !

Please don't let me put you off, you have to be optimistic particularly if your persuing what you really want, I'm wearing the same shoes you guys are. I wish you all the best in your quest

On a realistic front although you only posted recently, you can see by the lack of response to your post, the potential of your possible situation.

Perhaps some of the members of this forum will tell you there realistic tales how the have managed to coming, living & excisting in this 'Beautiful Place'.

I am afraid that Bluebolt is correct, work is very hard to get here. I know many of the locals are only managing to get work for 2 or 3 months and that is between May and September and some places are only offering contracts for a month at a time. Spain is slowly coming out of the recession but business owners are being extremely cautious.

Sorry this is probably not what you want to hear but those are the facts at the moment.

Just to Echo what Sparky said I have Spanish and English friends here who cannot get meaningful work all year round and have to manage on just a few months at a time.
Sorry to add to your disappointment but never say never would love to see you go for it and follow your dream

In most of the jobs the Spanish employment laws mean that the same people have to get re employed every year and those on casual contracts get the least length of time working. If you have a transferable skill, the Spanish government have just cut self employed costs massively, so you could come and ply your trade here. Good luck it's a brilliant place to live and work.
