Living in another country does not change the fact that someone was born a Brit and still feels at least in part like a Brit, as well as embracing the culture of their new home. Few move abroad because they hate being British, they move in the main for postive social-economic reasons.
The Government send these young men and women in harms way for there own reasons true, but the soldiers, sailors and airmen have no say in what's right and whats wrong. They do their duty.
Armed Forces day is a simple way to say "we recognise the dangers and perils you ensdure in the name of our country and we thank you for your bravery, hardwork and selflesness".
Nothing jingiositic about that. Politics should stay in the political world.
Good luck with the celebrations, the guy's in uniform do appreciate being appreciated.
