I’ve been told that Jose, the owner of Bonys Bar, but not apparently of the property, has retired.

According to rumours, the owners of Store Formentor, who recently leased the bank on the corner to open a what seems to be a very successful tapas bar, are going to take over Bonys as well, something that will most probably disappoint many regular readers and visitors.

Thanks for the update Julian. We had hoped that some of the girls who have worked with Jose for years might have taken it over. La Rovina is a great addition to the square, so hopefully the new owners will do something as nice as they have done there.

Why would people be disappointed ? The Store and Rovina are both great places , this sounds like good news

If this rumour is true, I will be very sad to see things change at Bonys. Jose is quite a character and visiting Bonys has always been a fun part of our holiday. I wish him well in his retirement.

Update on their Instagram page states they are opening on March 28th under the new management of Juan and Andres. Same staff and vibe.
Wonder if that's the Andres that used to work there years ago and is the brother of one of the girls.Great news, doubled up the news about Marc's.

I think it might be Andres that used to work there. I think he might be running Meraki next door to Bonys currently, though I could be wrong. I saw some photos on Facebook last night and it looked exactly like Bonys always has. Here’s hoping the Larios and tonics are every bit as good as before!

Juan Carlos runs Meraki with his wife and also more recently the Bar Esportivo next to the swimming pool. And now seems he's returning to Bony's alongside Andres who is also a popular taxi driver in the area.
They're all lovely people so it will surely be a success
