Building near the lighthouse

We took the ferry recently from PP to Formentor, there is a large area with what looks like a historical building on the left as you leave PP, with the lighthouse just a bit further on. Can anyone help with what this area is and any history associated with it?

We were told that it is all part of the military but it looks to be separate from that area.

Incidently, Formentor is paradise.

Thanks Pollensa - yes that's the one - very interesting.

Did it get sold I wonder - It would make a fabulous museum or tourist attraction - A lot of money though!
