In October, after a 3-year absence, we are planning to return to PP (at last!). We are not travelling independently this year, so for the first time we will be looking to hire a car for 6 days while in PP, rather than at the airport. We would appreciate any advice, recent experience, of hiring a car in PP or nearby. Our main criteria would be reliabilty of car, trust that the company won't rip us off afterwards with repair bills, and ease of collecting the car. We don't look for the cheapest car. All advice, comments, recommendations gratefully received.

Hiper have given me good service on many car rentals from their office in the centre of PP.

Essential to pre-book; and 'all' car rental costs have escalated this year

I have used Hiper in the port on numerous occasions with no problems.

At Easter Hiper want €220 a day, Moto Formentor are sold out

I've used Hiper many times and they are reliable and give great service. Never any damage claims because if you book direct with them it's normally fully inclusive insurance with no excess. Prices crazy this year if booking early. Might have to take a chance on prices coming down. We've just booked with Record at the airport for pick up tomorrow....it was showing €245 fully inclusive for 4 days when we first looked. We eventually paid €145 about a week ago. Now they've 'sold out'.

I hesitate to recommend anything nowadays, but all I would say is that we’ve used Hiper a few times in the past (including last month) and have no reason not to use them again in the future. Looking at their website, they have a range of cars available for October, starting at around Euros 350/week

Thanks for the helpful replies. We have booked with Hiper for October, and are already looking forward to it. Prices have certainly gone up, but after 3 years not visiting (we normally visited twice a year), we are not too price sensitive. We are hoping that our favourite eating places are still open, and that we will be able to help them in the process of making up some of their lost revenues!
