Change of traffic flow direction in Carrer Formentor

It has been rumoured for a while but now the Local Police in Pollensa have announced that the direction for traffic in part of Carrer Formentor will change from 5th March 2024 at 9am.

All traffic, starting from Carrer Pere Melia, will change to flowing along the Carrer Formentor passing the Hotel Sis Pins, then the Hotel Miramar and then Hotel Daina and continuing to the Carrer Joan XX111.

There was no indication of what benefits this rather strange change of direction for traffic will gain.

Even if you are not driving, keep an eye out when you cross the road!!

I saw this and thought it strange, would love to know the reason why? As a regular visitor and hire car driver for over 30 years can't understand the thinking behind it? But then over the years would also love to know why Taxi ranks and Bus stations also need to be changed??

It really makes little difference which way the traffic flows on the Formentor road as you're always likely to get mown down on a crossing by a cyclist going the wrong way!! Always have to look both ways when crossing by the Daina

Judging by the lack of sense in this action I believe that the planning, or lack of it, must be organised between the local and the U.K. councillors during their summer holiday visits!
