I will try and find out, I cant remember if there are any dates on the back of the pics or not, will have a look when I get home from work.

Mid 90's? Looking at the cars in one of the pictures, there looks to be the first model Seat Ibiza (84-93), a Renault Megane ('93 onwards) and a Renault Twingo ('95 onwards)
Assuming that they may have been then-new hire cars, my guess is 1995.

Have to go with lovemallorca's dates for now sws, as there is no date on the pics, and the inlaws are currently in PP, so I cannot ask them.

What cars ???? the unidentifiable pixelated ones in the backgoround ???
I'd say early 90's, could be wrong.

Have found the following on the RCNPP website, which might suggest an approximate date...
"The historical origins lie RCNPP in 1959 when a group of residents in the Port began efforts to form the Marina Puerto de Pollensa.
Two years later, on April 23, 1961, in General Assembly under the chairmanship of Francisco Javier Marichalar and Bruguera, Marquis of, Ciria Club was formally constituted with 25 members and began proceedings to begin construction. The first stone was laid on August 14, 1961.
Just over 27 years later there was significant expansion and modernization works that lasted twelve months.
In January 1993, His Majesty King Juan Carlos I granted the title Royal to the Club Nautico."
If the expansion they are talking about is what the pics show, then it suggests the end of the 80's.
I haven't managed to speak with the Inlaws to see if they remember.

Really interesting 'pics'. I remember the harbour (pre-marina) prior to these works. Mainly small fishing craft - Llouts - in those days. Not so many yachts.
If you look at the photo's carefully they were taken after the new Yacht Club building was constructed and before the alterations to La Llonja restaurant. Both buildings can be seen in the background.

Construction in PP
I bought my apartment in PP in 1988 and the work was going on then. We could hear the lorries tipping the huge rocks to form the breakwater. They started very early in the morning! Or maybe I was just sleeping in late?
From the roof of the apartment, above the Becfi as it was called then, we could see the lorries coming along the coast road from a quarry somewhere.
La Llonja was reconstructed after the storm of 2003, I think, when the roof blew off. We were there for that as well. We were staying in the Il la Dor, now that's a story I would like to tell.

I remember the works very well but the date eludes me at the moment, it had to be 93/94. The work was nothing to do with the yacht club it was to put in new pantalans in between the road leading to the yacht club and the road leading out to where the new stay building is now. I remember remarking to a friend how quickly they done the work and the way they emptied out the seawater after blocking the boundries off. This section of the marina belongs to costas now but at the time town hall were involved in some way. Yes Watty the great hurricane storm of 2003 is really another story, I assisted in he marina all that night, very very scary but I do not have the time at the moment to go into that.

The great storm of 2003 yaaaar
My wife and I were staying at the Il la Dor while we had works carried out in our apartment. The power had been cut off and very quickly, about two hours, all the emergency lights also stopped working. So to set the scene, no lifts, no toilets or water in rooms as the pumps were not working to get water to tanks and this in a hotel where the average age was, well need I say more. Luckily the manager had plan B up his sleeve! Candles on every stair step and on all landings and each resident supplied with more candles! My wife said that I had found a new vocation in life, leading elderly residents to their rooms, as long as they could remember where that was without using lift. The number of times we had to find the lift first and then go from there. We slept in our clothes and awoke to see our boat upside down resting on the hotel beach patio area, happy memories. We were the only people in the restaurant able to get a shower for three days by going back to our apartment, we had some funny looks from the residents higher up the pecking order. Yes we still have a good laugh over this story.
