Daft question about transfers…

Hi forum friends! After nearly 10 years on this forum, I’m coming back to PP this year with my son - his first time abroad. I can’t wait I’m trying to figure out what would be best in terms of a transfer. We are in a private apartment which obv the transfer companies say they can’t do a bus to, but it’s on the seafront so I could put one of the hotels as our accommodation - is there any problem with that? Alternatively we’d need a private car transfer but then my son (age 5) would need a car seat. Any advice appreciated xxx

Hi.

There is no problem at all. The last 3 or 4 times that we stayed in private apartments we did just what you suggested, i.e. drop off and pick up at a local hotel that is nearby, Just make sure that the transfer company have your mobile phone number. We always used shuttle direct, and found them to be OK.

Recently we have used taxis though, much dearer, but suits us better,

Have a good holiday, may se you there if its in August or September.

I would second that. Very reliable and friendly service. We wouldn't use anyone else.

We always use Transunion. Return transfers for 2 usually around £45. They have a large unit at the airport. Transfer usually takes around 50 minutes to PP and their coaches are always decent and comfortable.
We usually have a wait on the coach of 20 to 40 minutes for other passengers to clamber on-board.
We stay in a private apartment and always get off and on at Daina.
Always found them very good. Much cheaper than taxis.

It's not a problem to put any of the hotels close to your private accommodation as a destination for the transfer.

Having said that, we've done the various transfer methods over the years - coach shuttle, small private shuttle, rental car with rental car seat and Conde taxi with car seat pre-ordered via e-mail and provided.

Conde taxi, despite the additional cost, would be my first choice, especially with a young child. You just get your luggage, your driver awaits you in the arrivals hall, and you walk into your private accommodation within the hour in general. Conde is also very reliable.

The shuttle options, although often well organised, can add considerable time between the initial waiting times at the airport, as well as offloading people at multiple stops at PP, depending on your location. On a hot day with travel fatigue setting in, it is far from ideal when travelling with a child, especially if your accommodation is not all that close to a hotel drop off point. Very good value though.

We only used the rental car option once and it easily took the longest, with the rental car company off site, getting shuttled there, waiting to get the car/child seat and finally setting off. There could well be slicker car rental companies, but I wouldn't chose that option again. You can always rent a car and a seat in PP for some days, if you like.

Have used all forms of transfer over the years. Because of the fact that we now prefer a package holiday ( Jet 2 ) we take advantage of their transfer option. They tend to use Transunion which we find well organised.
We prefer the coach transfer because one can view the countryside enroute due to the height of the coach rather than the exhaust pipes of other vehicles.
Whilst it can be a bit time consuming dropping of at various hotels etc. in the port, it is because of this that we discovered some of the hotels that we now use. Have also seen some that may look good in brochures but not so appealing when there.
