boots aftersun

We have used Boots after sun spray with insect repelent for last 2 years, great no bites! Bonus is you don't have to spend ages rubbing aftersun on the kids. Think its about £6 but always on buy one get one free.

Thanks Joelise80, very grateful for the info. I would love to return to PP between May and Oct once again, so hopefully your advise should do the trick.

Mozzies

Had a conversation at work today and someone suggested drinking tonic water as the mozzies dislike the quinine in it, as long as I can have gin with it I am happy to try it next time. Also another tip was a spoonful of Marmite a day starting a week before you go an keep it up whilst you are there, I think it's the b vitamins in it. I will try anything as I hate the bites so much.

Sorry had intended to quote Bella - but forgot!

Have also heard reports on Avon Skin so soft being effective - although I have not tried it myself, even when I was a DingDong - Avon Calling lady myself!

Bella, tried your suggestion! Bought some of this Avon dry oil skin spray, prior to my visit a couple of weeks ago and it worked! We we walking along Pine Walk where there were quite a few. They just left me alone and headed for my husband lol ( the power of the mind.....)!
You do have to buy the green coloured one though and not the pink. Apparently according to the Avon rep, its something to do with the smell. It's the dry oil spray you need and it really is nice to use too.

The main pharmacy sells patches called Stick Pick, 4.50 for 24. Each lasts for 12 hours, we found them very effective. They are skin coloured so cannot be seen when you are wearing them. The basic ingredient is citronella so they are safe for children.

That it! Excellent value too especially if you buy one get one free!

Had loads left by the end of the stay. Left it in the villa cupboard for next visit - hope it doesn't go off.

Hey - Bella - we could run our own Avon agency on here think of the commission! lol

I am always plagued by the little bu**ers but swear by Boots own anti mozzie spray when sitting out at night - that and a ciggy or cigar or two!

Inside the abode just get some plug in mozzie repelents and close the bedroom doors before you go out for the evening:)

LOL!!, seriously though we have had some rain so that is sure to bring the mozzies out.

We have just come back and even though i had every spray, plug ins etc i was bitten 11 times, i think it was the rain last week that brought them out

We are here right now and brought the plug in with us.

Mossies in the room seem not to be affected by the plug and we have had one L of a thrashing from them, while asleep.

Been twice to the farmacia who said they are more prevalent in wet weather. Got an anti histamine ointment on that visit and then we had to go back a second time and they gave us a spray that we put on at night.

Hotel have also had the room sprayed twice now and it seems to have helped.

We are like a couple of war victims at the moment , my face, neck and one hand very bad and wife suffering on one arm, many itchy parts at the moment.:(

Have to say worst attack we have ever had.

Oh dear!! Porto i am sorry you have had so much trouble with the dreaded mozzies , hope the spray works. Where are you staying?.

Portofan, as far as sprays go we have always found Autan to be the best - we have tried various citronella/herbal based sprays over the years, often recommended by pharmacies, but they are pretty useless. Don't know whether Autan is what you have been using but you definitely need something with some good old-fashioned chemicals! We spray every few hours as suggested on the spray, plus redo it every time we go for a swim.
