Porto - you say that you took your plug-in with you. Is it a spanish one that you commute with or a UK one - maybe there is a difference in the content?

Porto

when the itch is really bad, get a flannel, soak in as hot water as u can bare (wring out) and place it on the bite.... doesnt make it disappear... but will give u a little bit of relief... re-apply when it gets bad again.
If u r a smoker, then just use ur lit ciggie, place as near to the bite without burning urself... after a few seconds u will feel a mild 'sting' and the heat will be gone from the bite and the itch stopped... again, not a fix... but relief for a wee while. And start taking anit histamine tabs and keep taking them !

Poor things... I have to use repellant every day from march till october in the UK & in Spain, so I know how much of a hassle bites can be

Hope this helps

Miriam

Ive just invested in the Avon dry oil spray to bring out with me now! Hope its as good as everyone says!

Personally I wouldn't use the Avon spray on its own - I did last year, as an experiment, and got thoroughly bitten on the first night as a result. Maybe use as a 'belt and braces' remedy along with a repellent - in any case, it smells lovely and at least it's good for your skin!

Hi all!

Staying at the Miramar, Sparky and off home Tuesday first thing.

Have seen quite a few other guests bitten but nothing like us, damage done a few nights ago and since the room sprayed we seem a bit safer.

Thanks for all the advice folks, we thought we had come prepared too.

The plug in was bought in the Uk.

That little face is me!

Thanks for advice Kate. We dont usually have any problems in Llenaire, and we make sure the plugs are in the bedrooms virtually all day with windows and doors kept closed as soon as possible. Some of the little blighters still manage to get in though, and WHY do they all sound like jumbo jets buzzing around but you can never see them!!!???

Portofan, I hope things have calmed down for you for your last couple of days.:o

Our mistake during day times earlier in the week was having the windows open with the shutter closed so the little blighters got easy entry.

And of course we thoughtb we´d be safe with the plug in on !

Thanks for the good wishes Bella.

I see the UK is going to have some drastic weatger in the next few days!

Ahhhh welcome home Porto!

Hate to say it but its true, been going for over twenty years and never even noticed one, never had plugs or anything, maybe immune thanks to the Scottish midges.
