Hi Jane
I'm not a trained wine taster so don't have the vocabulary or wit to think about how something tastes, just whether I like it! But with that out of the way, here goes!
One of my friends had a glass of Château Bauduc Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon in the bar at Petrus, but I didn't get a chance to taste it (fat chance) or ask what it was like.
At the table, we had a bottle of Gravitas Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough 2003. Very nice but at £35 you'd expect it to be! It was wonderful match for my main course of scottish lobster with roasted saute scallops lobster and salmon ravioli.
We also had a bottle of Moulin-a-vent, domaine Vissoux 2002. This was fabulous, too, though I only had a sip.
At Deep I had Bourgone Aligote with my starter (wild mussels) and a glass of Muga Reserva with my main (sirloin steak, served with a little dish of ragut of oxtail and chorizo). Both excellent matches for the food.
At home I've been buying those three for two offers from Threshers, including Campo Viejo Reserva and a couple of the whites, whose names I don't have to hand right now, and I can't find a Thresher website that lists their wines.
So there you are!
