This is an interesting article about Puig de Maria. It is in Catalan/ Mallorquin but I have translated the text using Google below - not perfect, but it gives the gist of what is planned.

The Puig de Maria is about to recover the life it deserved after two years of inactivity. With the objective of re-opening the seves portes this Easter of 2025, the integral restoration project, promoted by the Puig Works and approved by the Council of Mallorca, is durà a term in five phases and will have a total cost of 1,773,602.40 euros.

The first phase will focus on the reform of the cafeteria, which has already had the license requested from the City Council. It is expected that this phase will be finalised before Easter, which will allow the activity at Puig to be partially reactivated. Tot seguit, l'attention is focussed on the restoration of the inn, which is planned for 2026. This second phase will include the adaptation of the rooms to the current regulations, which will involve a reduction in the name of places, as explained by the rector Francesc Vicenç. Tot i això, hi haurà opcions per a tothom: habitacions dobles, compartides per a grups i més grands per a famílies.

In parallel, l'Obreria del Puig has presented four more rehabilitation projects for emblematic areas with the lower floor, the main floor, the fusteria, the renters and the tower. All these projects already have the approval of the Department of Heritage of the Council, where the Puig de Maria is declared Bé d'Interès Cultural. Tot i així, de moment només is able to pose in marxa the two first phases, ha that is not available of the economic resources sufficient for the rest of the works.

To finance these actions, you have enabled a bank account for any interested person to make a donation. A més, la Parròquia de Pollença i l'Obreria del Puig han anunciadot that it will publish a list with the names and surnames of the donors and their contributions, whenever these are authorised. Different categories of collaboration have been created: Patrons (from 10,000 euros), Sponsor (from 3,000 euros) and Collaborator (ends at 3,000 euros). També es pot donar suport a la rehabilitació fent-se soci de l'Obreria del Puig, contribuint així al manteniment i conservació d'aquest.

Finally, for those who want to know more about the project, the Rotger Villalonga Foundation added a show dedicated to the restoration of the Puig. És una gran oportunitat per conèixer de prop els detalls d'aquest ambiciós projecte que vol donar una nova vida a aquest espai tan estimat pels pollencins.

Thats good to see. In all my years here I've never been up when the cafe is open!? I was bored the other day, I went up in the dark (not a good idea unless you have a head torch)

Am not sure what days/hours they used to keep but we've had a light lunch up there, some nice almond cake & ice creams. I think they did paella on certain days. Just coffee & cake would be nice! Is really interesting inside too.

Exhibition of the Puig de Maria restoration project

Last Saturday, after the solemn reception of the Mare de Déu del Puig in Port de Pollença, the presentation of the Puig de Maria renovation plans took place. If you were unable to attend this event, you still have the opportunity to learn about the future plans for the Sanctuary.

The exhibition can be visited at the Port de Pollença Residents' Association (AVPP), from May 10 to 24, 2025. Visiting hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Under the title "The Future of the Puig" , the restoration project presents proposals to improve accessibility and preserve the heritage value of this emblematic place.

This exhibition is an opportunity to see the plans for the renovation that will transform Puig de Maria, maintaining its historical legacy while adapting to current needs. The AVPP encourages all residents and visitors to participate, learn about the project and contribute ideas and suggestions.

Don't miss the opportunity to be an active part of the future of Puig!
