There is a 24 hour English speaking Medical service in Puerto Pollensa, C/La Gola 4, (If you pick up a copy of Holiday in Puerto Pollensa there is a location Map) Tel 971 86 82 23 and Fax 971 86 81 87

I know this may seem like a daft question
If i need to phone ambulance / emergency number 061 or 112 from my UK mobile do I need to dial 0034 first ?
Also if I need to dial the same numbers from a spanish mobile do I need 0034 first ?

When we were in Belgium before Christmas we had to call a taxi to get back to our hotel and I just dialled the local number (without the international prefixes first) on my mobile phone.
Also, when we were in Berlin last week, I called my husband on his mobile (we had arranged to meet and he was late!) but I had to use the 00 44 before his mobile number, missing off the first "0".
Does this make sense?

Basically, once you're in Spain (or Germany!) your mobile knows where it is, so you don't need to dial the country code +34 of where you are but you do need to add +44 (for the UK) to phone home.

Coincidently a friend sent an email to me today about the emergency number 112.
It said....The emergency number 112 can be dialled even if you are in an area where your mobile has no network coverage. Your mobile will search any existing network to establish the emergency 112 number for you. Interestingly this number can be dialled even if the key pad is locked!

I think you will find that you only have to dial 112 from a mobile - in a private house with a telefonica phone - you just press the red button. As the previous reply said - often you will find your mobile saying - sin servicio - solo 112 OR sin servicio - solo urgencias and by some magical system wherever you are - without money, without coverage the 112 line can be called.
Obviously its not a service you can test for the fun of it it so cannot gaurantee it but seems to be excellent multi lingual service similar to 999.
There is the additional 061 for medical emergencies, 080 fireman,092 local police and 062 for guardia civil. These numbers are for Mallorca not for all of Spain Phew, no wonder they introduced 112 a couple of years ago for all emergencies. Lets hope no-one from this site ever has to use any of the numbers.
