Hello - can anyone suggest an English speaking pharmacy in the area. I am here for 2 months and unfortunately the bag containing my medication (Lisinopril, bendroflumethiazide, and HRT) has gone missing. I have enough for immediate use but want to see if I can get replacements without having to get someone to send them to me from the UK. I have my UK prescription with me & was hoping to find an English speaking pharmacy where I could explain my predicament - some of it may even be that they are available here without prescription but my Spanish isn't up to this level of complexity yet:D

many thnaks

Hi Callie you will find the staff in all the farmacias speak excellent English and they are also very helpful. Not sure if you can get your medication without a prescription but if not you can go to health centre with your EHIC card and passport, the doctor should be able to provide one.

Hi Callie,

I agree with Sparky and would especially recommend the large farmacia just before the traffic lights on the main road C / Juan XXIII - there is a chap in there (sorry don´t know his name) who has excellent English and the girls do too. We had a similar incident with my father in law and wrote down the names of the medications needed and she gave us what she could without a prescription and for the rest we went to the PAC in Pollensa old town (at the back of the bus stop) and got a prescription for the other items there.

It is very easy to do - good luck.

thank you both very much - I shal give it a go on Monday :)

Just a quick update - I was able to get 2 of the items from the lovely pharmacist that you recommended but I]can't get any HRT. I went to the Healthe Centre but they say that my particular type isn't avaiable in Spain so I need to speak to my UK GP to find an alternative- although I'm not sure that she'll know what's available here .
Him indoors is really looking forward to the mood swings if I can't get it sorted :D

@callie

Might be worthwhile to see if you can contact the manufacturer of the HRT and ask them if they maybe sell it in Spain under a different name?

thanks Mike - brilliant idea. I emailed the US HQ but they weren't able to help me so I've contacted the Madrid office - sadly my Spanish isn't good enough to explain the situation properly so I've had to do it in English - we'll see what Monday brings :D

prescription meds

Hi Callie,

As you are in PP for a while, maybe you could get your prescription repeated & collected by someone (poss friend or family member) in Uk & then meds posted out to you in PP? Just another idea for consideration.

have visited various pharmacies over the years...they're all good english speakers

I'm on 2 regular prescriptions; MUCH better value in PP over the counter, just bring your tablet packet & stock up whilst on hols
