english to spanish translator

Hi coming across in July visiting spanish friends and staying out in a countryside villa. Just wondering if anyone knows of a good English to Spanish translator programme to down load to the laptop that will also translate English text to Spanish with speach, just like google translate. I think it will be to expensive to go on line to use this service, thats why i ask if anyone knows of a good programme or any other device designedfor this. Any advice would be help full.

Alternatively Lonely Planet have an App if you have the appropriate phone.

There are many app's designed for IPhone/IPad/IPod etc. which are really useful and also speak the translation. If you want more than basic translations though you would probably need a wifi or 3G signal to connect to the Internet, you can then put in any word or phrase and get the translation.

I'm using mine with a Spanish sim or wifi hotspot to connect to the Internet, obviously you cannot use your English sim as you would have to have 'data roaming' enabled and would incur mega charges.

WARNING: Always switch off data roaming when abroad!

I was thinking more of a program for my laptop without the need to be on line or a hand held device specifically designed for the purpose, but thanks for the suggestions and keep them coming

On this subject I have noticed a lot of translation web sites now offer Catalan, is this preferable to Spanish with Mallorcans?
