Has anyone been distressed by the excessive noise from Hotel Playa Mar during the afternoon siesta period and in the evening, when families in the vicinity of this hotel would otherwise be enjoying a quiet supper or cena? I regularly holiday in this part of Puerto Pollenca which, at other times lives up to the image of 'unspoilt northern Mallorca' and, in common with all other residents of the area I have spoken to, feel that there is complete indifference and even contempt for the civilised relationship between neighbours with respect to the lack of recognition that disturbing each others peace is, at the very least, bad manners. There is yelling and shouting of instructions and quiz questions which can be clearly heard half a mile away and I feel sure that most if not all the hotel residents would, in their own homes, not expect their neighbours to blast out noise as is the case night after night from this hotel. Indeed when I have tried, fruitlessly, to obtain co-operation from the staff of the hotel, guests have expressed their sympathy for the area's residents and indeed have told me that they have found that they themselves need to leave the hotel during these noisy periods, especially when they have young children who are disturbed by the level of noise echoing around the area. They, as do I, emphasise that other hotels, such as Pollenca Park, manage their entertainment by containing most of the noise within the confines of the entertainment suites of the hotel building and assure me that they will not be mislead into visiting Playa Mar again. Why be so indifferent to the discomfort of the wider public and indeed to the discerning hotel guests who also appreciate moderation?
