Hello all, I wear the green hidden disability lanyard in the U.K. as exemption for mask wearing due to asthma, will this be recognised in restaurants, bars etc in the port? Thank you

Does it have an explanation as to what it is in Spanish printed on it ? Suggest you contact the Spanish embassy in London rather than rely on social media.(meant kindly)

Short answer, doctors note, in Spanish and prepare to be asked to show it quite a lot.

Rules are stricter in Spain and Asthma alone isn't an exemption and I've never thought to seek it as the risk factors for us being seriously ill / hospitalised are mush higher anyway, I presume you have other underlying issues which we dont need to talk about but you should consider whether Spain is the right destination for you just at the moment. They suffered much more the we did under lockdown so anything which goes against the perceived health issues wont go down very well. You will need to show a doctors certificate in spanish where you will need to demonstrate "some type of respiratory difficulty that can be seen aggravated by the use of a mask."

You'll only need a mask for about 10-20 seconds in a bar as thats how long it takes to walk to a table or nip to the loo. Just a loose fitting fabric jobbie would save you a lot of trouble. I literally grab mine out my pocket, hold it on my face as if it was a tissue and walk to the table.

There are rumours that indoor mask wearing won't be a thing very soon. So depending on when you are coming, you may not need to worry.

I couldn't remember where I saw that mentioned but we can only hope.
