Picked this up yesterday in the library.

It is a compilation of real life stories from expatriates in Spain.

Edited by Graeme Chesters and by Survival Books Ltd.
www.survival books.net
UK price £9.95

The sleeve says it is essential reading for anyone planning to live , work or buy a home in Spain, containing real - life, "warts and all" stories from expatriates who have already taken the plunge. Learn and profit from their experiences-triumphs and disasters - and save yourself time, trouble and money!

Seems interesting so far.

A couple of quotes:

"The way you live your life and behave are seen as important here and everybody is accorded respect, whatever their status in life."

"Having a laid-back approach to life is good in some ways, but you don't want to become so laid-back that you never get anything done properly."

"The way you live your life and behave are seen as important here and everybody is accorded respect, whatever their status in life."

Sounds idyllic, but somehow I don't think Ashley Cole, Emile Heskey, Shaun Wright Phillips or some of the African footballers playing in Spain would necessarily agree with all of that!

Now I am in to this further I would recommend it.

It is really all about different individual's experiences on the Costa del Sol but neverthless we could all relate to some of the experiences and is particularly relevant to anyone moving to Spain and or buying property.

Hi Portofan!!

Great to chat with you earlier this evening as always!

Anyway we chatted about this book and I really became interested in reading it.

I looked it up on Amazon and it's selling for a shade under £7.00.

There was an excellent review of the book by someone living in Spain which was very interesting.

Next time I need to order something from Amazon it will be amongst my purchases!

Thanks for the recommendation!

Regards

Great review Portofan. I'll look out for it in Borders books.
Survial books ( www.survivalbooks.net ) are the nice people who publish 2 very helpful books :

The Best Places To Buy A Home In Spain : Joanna Styles ISBN 1 901130 96 7

Buying A Home In Spain; David Hampshire ISBN 1 901130 36 3

One I don't own is Living and Working in Spain : David Hampshire

If this new book is anything like the two I own it will be jam packed full of sound advice.

Thanks again

Rob
