As some may have already seen on social media Hibiscus has had a refresh for 2024 updating its concept and all I can say is ‘wow’!

My family and I have been long term fans of Hibiscus over very many years. Carmen, her husband and family remain ever present but they have brought in the son of Marcello (Marcello being the chef who used to run Maxim with his wife Claudia for many years). The welcome from the entire team and ambience is fantastic but the quality of the food served from their new and refreshed menu is exceptional.

Whether you’ve visited before or have never been, the refreshed 2024 Hibiscus is definitely somewhere I recommend trying on your next visit to PP!

Hibiscus

Are they still doing the set menu in the evening? if so,how much is it now?

Yes, there’s a new/different set menu available in addition to the main a la carte menu with bread, olives, alioli and diced tomatoes included followed by a choice from three starters, three mains and a homemade dessert for 20.90€.

We have been going to Hibiscus since it opened and always enjoyed it, in the early days it was one of the top restaurants in the port, we went tonight and had wonderful meals, well worth a visit!

Glad you reminded me about that Bootledodger.

About 7 or 8 years ago, we (party of 8) got a couple of taxis into town, and asked the drivers to take us to the best Tapas Bar in PP. They took us to the one which was there before Neptuno - can't remember the name. It was 2.00 p.m., and they said it was too late for lunch and refused to serve us. I went across to Hibiscus, which was also closing, with little hope, or so I thought.

But they, to their credit, gave us a table, and even recalled the chef who had already gone home,, and we had a wonderful lunch, with a very wide range of food - and that is when I got my first ever Frito Mallorquin - and it was fabulous. I still do not know why I never had tried it before. So we always try to go there ever since - never had a bad meal there. I can still remember everyone saying how lucky we hit that day!! And the bill was very reasonable to say the least.

You have wet my appetite for August/September this year - bring it on.

We had an other excellent meal in Hibiscus tonight, Tangoman the Frito Mallorquin is still on the menu, our friend thought it was the best he had any where in the port.

We were at the new fantastic Hibiscus on Friday evening. Great service and quality of food (including vegetables). Slick new look
to the furnishings, it's Hibiscus updated.

Have not been since it's best days long number of years ago but cannot wait to return this holiday.

Main menu both Lamb and Seabass, excellent.

We'll definitely give it a try next weekend....do we need to book?

We always feel guilty sitting outside Hibiscus and outside Neptuno as we love both of them and think they are two of the best in the port.
Best option is to visit one when the other is closed. Best of both worlds.

We are definitely going while we’re here. After 37 years I think it’s about time we did! Don’t ask.. I’ve no idea why not

The refurbishment has really tidied up the restaurant both inside and out and the menu looks decent and good value. We have never been either in 22 years so must try it in the next 2 weeks.

If going on a Friday I would book (as we did, eating out many nights), day off is Thursday.

Oh...was planning on turning up late on Thursday! :(

Will give it a go on Sunday instead!:)

Ooops, hope this does not mean that it will be to crowded in September. I may have to think up some diversion tactics!

Yep, lots of competition now Miller……it’s on my list too!!

Second visit last night. Busy for a Saturday both inside and out. Some reservations, also walk-ins.
We enjoyed Frito to share, John Dory and Sea Bass. No room for desserts.
Met a couple who were glad we had recommend
Hibiscus (always wonder and hope that recommendations go down well when tastes differ).

I went recently, with my son and his wife. Haven't been for decades.

I chose the st menu, as I wanted to try the quality of it. The others ate of the main menu.

Sadly, it wasn't great  My main was suckling pig, which was bone dry and my son's shoulder of lamb was full of grissle.

Not sure I will go again.

I would agree from your experience.

From 2 visits from the main menu we had 2 Sea Bass, 1 John Dory and 1 Lamb Cutlets, all excellent.
We normally eat from Main Menus at Faroles, Brisa Marina, La Parra, Can Ferrer and La Llonga all different but excellent.

Went last week for first time in 22 years. Quiet nice food but food took 70 minutes to arrive. Waiter gave no reason when we asked when we can expect the food. No apology given but did give us a free glass of wine each.
May go back tonight or tomorrow if Debs really wants to.
