Hotel Dom Pedro, Cala san Vicente

Guest
We are going to this hotel and resort for the first time in june. Can anyone tell me what the hotel or the resort is like. We have two children ages 9 and 12. I have seen the pictures on the pollensa web site and they look good, but I want a personal opinion. Thanks

cala san vicente

i visited cala twice a year for my first 13 years and absolutely loved it. it is a wonderful place. i now live in america and am dragging all my familly (5 of us) there this summer. you will enjoy it.

Re: cala san vicente

Now we have just arrived home from the hotel don pedro. We all had a brilliant time. The hotel is clean, friendly, wonderful food and the staff were brilliant. The all inclusive was the best , when you have 2 kids aged 9 and 12 it is worth the extra for all in.
Cala san vicente is a lovely quiet resort, no nightclubs or disco,s, nice beaches, and the water is clear turquoise/blue. Perfect for snorkelling and warm to swim in.
We had a couple of days in Puerto Pollensa. nice for shopping and a lovely promenade called the pine walk, lots of street cafes, and ice cream parlours. We caught a sea cat/glass bottom boat to Formentor beach, which is supposedly one of the nicest beaches in Mallorca, and I can second that, it is beautiful and scenic, the water again warm and crystal clear. This has been the best holiday we have ever had, and already we are palnning next years holiday to the same hotel. I can highly recommend the Hotel Don Pedro.:) :)

Re: cala san vicente

Well

Just got back from hotel don pedro

Plus points

Location: absoloutly perfect location, picture postcard views. clear water FULL of fish quiet cove etc.

Food: Generally good food, had a couple of days where food suddenly went downhill..as if chef was ill but generally cant complain

All inclusive bar had a good range of choice

Beaches although small were very clean

Close to pollensa which is stunning

Negative Points

Rooms: The rooms are very small, there were 4 of us in 1 room which was so small that the beds ran the entire length of room with only a foot or two left infront of the beds, we later found out that our room was in fact staff accomodation which we had been allocated due to overbooking, rooms lacked air conditioning making them unbearably hot and uncomfortable.

Bar: The bars open till 12.00 but we found that the lights went out on the complex around 11.30 as if the staff were trying to get us to go to bed!, personally on holiday thats a bit early to be tucked in bed.

Entertainment: This varied a lot, from great singers to awfull acts such as magicians that are plain embarrasing. Two times per week there is a proffesional act but the rest of the week is hotel run entertainment which at nighttime seemed to consist of getting members of the guests hopelessly drunk and encouraging them to strip completely while young children look on..i personally found this quite offensive. For families there is a mini disco for v.young children (5-9) and childrens clubs for 4-9 year olds, however older children (aged 10-14) where given little to do and many were complaining that they were bored and wanted to go home.

Summary
Ideal location and great for people wanting to soak up sun all day and who dont mind the lack of air conditioning in rooms, however not the place to go for people with older children or those who need comfortable sleeping accomodation
