We have dined at La Llonja for years, even before it was rebuilt. Recent posts were complimentary. However we had a very bad experience last night. Of the 4/5 waiting staff who attended to us, not one could we engage in conversation. They were all rushing about trying to get as many customers in as possible. The starters were up to the normal La Llonja standard. Then it went downhill. Lubina fine. My brocheta/kebab contained "carnes" that all tasted the same - garlic - and had the consistency of a car tyre. Although we fought on and finished the course, our plates were removed without asking, before we were finished. The postre reminded me of school dinners - a square of sponge, topped with an "angel delight" sludge topping. Agua con gas good but wine poor/mediocre. On paying, waitress asked if we had enjoyed our food. Replied not the best we have had here. Complete disinterest and no response. Quickly took our 80€ and left to "welcome" new customers.

What a shame you didn’t enjoy it. We were there the week before and had the set menu, and found all the choices delicious and the staff attentive and nothing wrong with the service at all. I must admit that some weeks the menu varies a bit…..we didn’t fancy the one this week.

I suspect that the failure to ”engage in conversation” could be put down to a desire to do what they are paid for, serve customers rather than engage in idle chit chat. It’s not really that sort of place. I must admit that I find it I infuriating to have to wait to be served because a customer is wittering on to the staff for England (or in your case Scotland!). Meant as a humorous observation, not a criticism. LOL

That is a shame and although not an excuse, at this stage of the season staff are worn out. There is a shortage of staff across the island, so everyone has to work harder and probably don’t have time to stop and chat. Were Miguel and Ana both there, as Miguel usually takes peoples orders and has a good chat? Ana is also so friendly and welcoming. Shame about the menu… some weeks the set menu isn’t as good as others, and from experience the fish dishes are usually better than the meat.
We usually go to Stay or La Llonja weekly whilst here, but preferred the look of the set menu at Stay this week.. which is where we’re off to tonight! :)

We had a very 'traumatic' experience there in July. Four of us having the set menu and all ordered the white wine. First bottle arrived immediately and was polished off quite quickly, but had almost finished our meal by the time we got the second one!

One thing we have noticed, is that if you stroll up to the Menu board and wait to be greeted and seated....you can wait a very long time. We now walk straight up to the middle area, where they can't ignore you.

Apart from that, its all good!
