La Roca Beach Bar Unbelievable and unacceptable

We have frequented this bar for years and always enjoyed many good times with or without the Music
Yesterday My wife went with 2 friends for a cocktail to celebrate her friends birthday.
After 15 Minuets the Manger came over and told them they had to finish the drinks and leave because there is a 15 minuet limit for having a drink
YES I AM SURE YOUR JAW DROPPED AS DID MY WIFE WHEN SHE WAS TOLD THIS AND MINE WHEN SHE TOLD ME
The reason you go to a bar on or of the beach is to relax take in the ambiance and enjoy your drink not be rushed of after 15 minuets
I need to point out no people were waiting for tables not all tables were full
I was so shocked when she called me to tell me i cycled down to look and the terrace was not full
Almost 30 years here in PP NEVER been given a time limit for a drink , so be warned if you want a relaxing drink on the beach this is a place to avoid . Many amazing and welcoming Bars in PP the last thing we need is this Draconian behavior

Overall, the number of seats is limited to 50 percent of the usual number of guests.

That is an old law and changed many months ago there is not legal time limit this is being implemented for some strange reason by the manager of this Bar I know many bar owners here in PP and Alcudia and they like me are dumbfounded by this as almost all are welcoming people with open arms and a smile

I have often commented on how some locals sit with a cana, coffee, soft drink etc or nothing at all for hours, i call them the big spenders and say they would never get away with that in the UK, maybe that's where the manager was trained .

This sounds very strange and out of character. Does Julio still run the bar? I seem to remember that they were associated with another bar!! near the sports complex. I may be wrong.

he did not close early i joined my wife and her friends on the beach for several hours after this and was still open obviously we did not go back for another drink

Can’t help thinking there must have been some sort of misunderstanding.

Did your wife and party ask the manager why these rules were in operation?

I know I would have done ……. Especially if it was at a bar I frequented regularly

There was no misunderstanding. he simply came over and told them that 15 minuets was all that was allowed for a drink . My wife and her 2 friends have been here to PP for more than 25 years and to be honest were in shock and simply left. As would most people !
We can all try make excuses but the fact is for whatever reason he has decided to implement a fundamentally flawed policy . There are many amazing bars in PP . who are only to delighted to have people especially in these times sitting at the tables drinking .

If you add the average time it takes to order and then get the bill at any other bar, then subtract 15 minutes.... there wouldn't be any time left for drinking??

The bars associated with the sports centre are Embat and Llaut, both part of the Embat group. La Roca is independent.

Please this has nothing to do with the issue .
If you read up I was asked if that was the man in question And to identify him the person who asked described his skin colour . and I said yes it was him. Please do not turn this thread into something it clearly is not thank you .
It is to inform people about a new and disappointing rule imposed at a once very popular beach bar .
