This morning, different members of the Pollença City Council team met at the Pollença Nautical Club, as well as members of the opposition, the minister for the sea and the water cycle, the general director of coasts, the general director of the coast and ports, the port manager of the Balearic Islands and different Associations of the town, to talk about the request for planning the Bay of Pollença, with the aim of improving it.
On the basis of the motion approved by the Pollença City Council for the arrangement of the bay of our municipality at the last ordinary plenary session in September and, with the consensus of the municipal entities, they shared that the bay of Pollença needs an immediate action around the following axes: system of sanitation and purification of residual and rainwater, plan for collecting samples of the marine soil and ordering and regularizing its use. These are necessary and essential for their management, conservation and marine regeneration.
The improvement actions jointly proposed by the city council and associations such as Arrels Marines, Real Club Nàutic del Port de Pollença, Association of neighbors Port de Pollença, Pollencina Hotel Association, Fishermen's Guilds and the Bay Defense Association, are among others the cleaning of the inner bag of the bay of all that bulky waste (including the anchorages through "dead") as well as the removal of the bulky waste located in the bathing areas, the installation of a field of buoys ecological, the maintenance and repair of water collection systems, bilge, etc. and the water surveillance vessel service of the municipal area of Pollença.
They all agreed that the most important thing is to start, to put in place solutions, little by little, but not to let another year go by and let the situation continue to worsen. In addition to this, the great problem of the sewage system due to the leakage of waste water has been commented on. The bay is particularly sensitive and has suffered these types of incidents for years.
