Four days ago on 27th August I made flight bookings for October thinking the price was reasonable ( it was)

Today the 31st August the price has drooped another £55 per person as the flight prices dropped and there is a £25 per person discount code off return flights.

Typical :D and there in no point in booking early these days !

The villa from sealand was a bargain though so not too annoyed :D

Mark, this has happened to me on all of our flights this year:( I definitely would think twice about booking early in future unless it is immediately after the flights are released (when they should be at their lowest). I have never seen such huge bargains on flights so close to departure. In saying that, I have just booked flights tonight for July next year.....BUT....not for Palma but for Canada:) I will probably be looking for October next year though as soon as they are released;) Will we ever learn:rolleyes:

It's not just flights. Our car hire,a Ford C max, for 7 days was originally £160 with Centauro but is now £114. Also, a family room at Premier Inn Bristol Airport booked at £84 is now £47. (6.30 am flight). Needless to say I have cancelled both and rebooked saving £83!
Our flights are the same price as when we booked. Probably only worth booking early if travelling at peak periods.

There is always an exception to the rule. We are about to fly with Monarch from Leeds and , I suspect, because they have cancelled a number of their September flights, whilst the outward is cheaper, the return leg has doubled in price. We paid £240 for both of us (including hold bags) and if we had booked now, it would be well over £300. Mind you, if we had waited and done a late booking with Jet2, they seem to be getting cheaper by the minute!

Just out of curiosity, have been researching cost of flights for next June, they seem expensive to say the least. Wonder how much they'll increase by, if delay booking until nearer the time ?

Cannot really help you with that one Varsp, we have never flown out later than early May or earlier than September. What we do though is look at the schedules when they come out and IF there is a "lower cost flight"somewhere in there we will book that as a "back stop"and see what accomodation we can find later on. Living within striking distance of 5 airports helps, there can often be savings by just looking at another kick off point!

This year for august i paid £320 including extra leg room and bike . for the same flights next year monarch now want £422 why such an increase
