Vueling to add Heathrow-Palma route

Spanish carrier Vueling is to launch a new route between London Heathrow and Palma for the summer 2013 season.

The daily service will commence on March 27, departing Palma at 1450 and landing into Heathrow at 1610, with the return leg leaving London at 1715 and arriving back in Majorca at 2025.

The Heathrow-Palma route was last served by Bmi in 2009, with Spanair codesharing on the route.

Last month Vueling announced plans to launch flights between Gatwick and Barcelona.

The carrier will also start a new service between Cardiff and Malaga in April. At the time of that announcement it was not clear if Vueling’s flights between Cardiff and Palma would continue for the summer 2013 season, but the carrier has now confirmed this service will operate next year.

Earlier this month BA and Iberia’s owner IAG confirmed it had made a takeover bid for Vueling - Iberia currently owns 45.85 per cent of the low-cost carrier.

On Wednesday I booked flights from London City for Easter. If only I had known this was on the horizon. We only live 15 mins from Heathrow. This would have saved us about £40 on the flights, £60 on taxis and 90 minutes travelling to and from the airport.

Still it is great news and might lead to more short breaks to PP during the year. Their flights seem very competitively priced even when they include a 23kg case.
