From this week you should find that all websites that use cookies will have a pop up window requesting your permission to continue.
It’s estimated over 50% of websites use cookies and those based in the EU & UK will by law have to implement some form of consent mechanism to obtain the visitors permission before installing any cookies.
Hefty fines for those webpages that do not comply with this new EU law.
Dont be put off continuing to browse or book on line if you are confronted with this pop up window - its the law. You should maybe be more concerned with the web pages that are not complying!
Unfortunatley, yet more costs to the small businesses :( to comply and protect consumers.

Do not worry. There are still large numbers of UK sites including this one who have not yet implemented their solution as the Information Commissioner (in the UK) inserted an amendment referring to 'implied consent' (which could avoid the pop-up with tick box that some sites have started to use) only 48-hours before the date the law came into force. Fines will only be levied if companies cannot show that they are working towards implementation. The EU legislation is very unclear and has not been thought through properly.

It is impossible to avoid the use of cookies in sites such as this forum as they are required to track which 'member' you are as you use the forum, make posts etc.

So please do not be concerned if a site that you use has not yet implemented it as the law itself is unclear and, in the UK, was amended at the last minute! :)
