Hello,

This is my first post in your forum. I hope you don't mind me posting to ask this question.

We have visited Pollenca four times and each time we have stayed in lovely villas with non heated swimming pools. This wasn't a problem for my husband and I but its a different story now that we have young children.

My husband is able to take next week off work so we are trying to find a villa to rent with a heated pool from Saturday 27th April until Saturday 4th May. We are looking for at least three bedroom (my mother and father in law are thinking of joining us). I also have two children, one four year old and one 23 month old.

If anyone could offer any advice or indeed if you have a villa to rent i would be very grateful to hear from you.

Many thanks

Claire

Hi Claire,

I'm not sure that there are many villas with heated pools but you could try Villa Parade. As this forum is associated with our main site www.puertopollensa.com where we advertise both Private villas and via Local Agents and UK Agents I'm afraid that it won't be possible for any non-advertiser to promote their rental here. But hopefully the links to our site will help.

I hope its OK to post the link as sealandvillas do advertise here, it's how I found them last year.

This one is available and a bargain as that price includes a hire car and it is a luxury property in a very good location with free wi-fi:)
(pool heating is a small extra charge)

Be quick :)

Claire please ask the agent to what temperature the pool is heated. We rented a villa with a heated pool but the pool was still too cold for young children. We rented direct with the owner and hadn't asked the question beforehand. The owner would not increase the temperature and blamed us for not covering the pool early enough at night. (The owner lived in an apartment below the villa:eek: *, another omission from the property details, surely he could have done it when we had a late return) This villa was on the mainland not Mallorca. I would always ask the question up front to avoid any confrontation.

* sorry but not my idea of a relaxing holiday

You should be aware that most modern heated Pools work using heat exchange and this time of year require a good couple of days to heat up to a good temperature and need to run all the time to maintain it.
Before booking ask if this will be the case and what the water temperature of the pool is don't want you wasting your money and being disappointed
I know our pool takes at least 3 days this time of year to heat up of course depends on size of pool

We've stayed in three different villas rented through villaplus which have had heated pools. The villas have been excellent but the pool heating hasn't made much of a difference temp. wise. The kids (who are quite hardy) brave the pool but I find the sea much warmer. We come out at Oct half term most years.

As I explained pool heating is not that simple specially this time of year and also in October. Which is why I advise asking lots of questions before paying extra for a pool that is advertised as heated. I had the heating on our pool over Easter because we had people out and it took as I said 3 days to get it up to a decent temperature and the weather was warmer then than it is now. and my heater is brand new so older heaters make take even longer. And many require you to cover the pool as the sun goes down when actually swimming in the evening in a warm pool is very relaxing so a waist of time really. Claire I am sure the kids will have a wonderful time as will all of you but as I said if you truly want a warm heated pool ask the questions to avoid disappointment. Or just jump in and say yaaaaaaa the water is lovely lol

We used the unheated pool at easter - so long as you kept swimming it was fine ..... the 3 kids who were staying next door were in and out all day - they were a bit older than your little one I'd say they were aged between 3 and 6 .... so even if you can't find a heated pool your older one should be fine. I would ask whether the pool is in direct sunlight as that may actually be more important than whether it is heated - as a few hot sunny days will quite quickly warm up the shallow end at least.

Wow, thank you so much for your replies. It is very kind of you all to take the time to help and advise.

I had read about the pools taking 3 days or so to warm up and that if they are not covered when in use they can lose a lot of heat.

My children are generally roughty tufty but they are wimps when it comes to cool water!

Font Xica looks perfect Mark. Please no one book it now! Thank you, thank you! Will let you know if we secure it. Xxx

Someone booked it :)

Looks like Font Xica Petit has been occupied most of April so if the previous families paid for pool heating it has been on for a lot longer than 3 days :)

If there is a pool cover leave it on all the time and take it off just when you use the pool and put it back on the pool when finished to keep the heat in.
Only takes a minute or two to pull it out of the way each time.

All booked! We leave home first thing tomorrow morning. Can't wait! Thank you again for your help. If i hadn't posted here i don't think we would have found such a nice villa.

Mark, yes i'm hoping the previous folk have paid to heat the pool. It would be lovely if it was super toasty.

I've just been checking the weather forecast on Metcheck. Few days of rain forecast. Boo! Can still go in the pool in the rain!

I am sure you will have a great time Claire, tell us all about it when you get back! Enjoy :)

You're welcome, and that is one of the best villas in the area and is in a perfect location on very quiet lanes and you got it for about a quarter of the price people will pay in the summer.

Perfect for walks as there is a 'circular' walk that takes about 40 minutes along the two lanes that run parallel that go towards the main road, the route will be obvious when you are there.
Fields with Pigs, sheep and some guard dogs in peoples gardens to talk to on your walk, it's perfect :)

A few views you should see each morning if going for a walk:

I also swim in the rain and hail stone but I draw the line at Thunder and Lightning :D

Claire, I'm just a tad jealous!

Have a super duper time, can't wait to hear all about it!
