Hey, I know it's a bit early - but we are coming out for a week after Christmas for the first time ever and I am SO excited....

I wondered if any of you out there knew which restaurants were likely to be open on New Year's Eve - either in the Port or the Old Town? We'd like to get booked as early as possible to be sure of a reservation, as I know lots of places will be closed from November. I'm tempted by the extravaganza at the Stay but we will have our two teenage daughters with us, and I think it might be a bit 'adult' for them - plus I'm not sure they'd want to plough through so many courses (and frankly it would be v. expensive for four of us). So something a bit more low-key would be great - doesn't have to be a set menu nor does it necessarily have to involve entertainment - we'd just like to celebrate the evening with a really lovely meal. Any input would be really welcome.

Hi Kate, we have gone to Casa Vila for the last two years and thoroughly enjoyed it. They do a 4 /5 course set menu for under €50 a head which includes wine, water, coffee, liquer, grapes and a party bag :D.

We usually stay in Pollensa and book the Clivia, we like to walk in to town afterwards where they usually have a band playing. Last year we went to Can Josep the night before and they were preparing for New Year and it looked as though they were really going to town. As the food is good on usual nights imagine it would be equally good on New years eve and nowhere near as expensive as Stay. We really like Stay especially in the winter for lunch, but for New years eve it is very expensive especially when I do not really drink much. The Clivia is a set menu and they just keep bringing course after course and drinks are included there too.

I also have been to Casa Vila and had a really good night . Can Josep would be another good one and will be open this year.

Thanks, all! And to Sparky for the link which I couldn't find for some reason. I suspect we will be off to Casa Vila as we love it there - can't wait!
