Well that's it all over for this trip.
We arrived late on a Tuesday last week so just wanted food asap. At 10.00 at night we went round to Dakota for a quick refuel and had chicken and beef fajitas and two beers for 33 euro's .Hit the spot then back to the Miramar for coffee and brandy . Staying at the Maricel apartments.

Next night was Amazo which we had tried for the first time last year and really enjoyed. We decided to splash out on the al a carte and so glad we did. prawns in tempura batter with veg and tuna tataki for mains for us both followed by coconut brulee which was not what we expected as the came in soup bowl based size plates and were massive . The waiter said their style of food is influenced by south American flavours and I think that is about right. Not the cheapest place once we added on the wine and water etc but we enjoyed.

El Posito the following night and I do not know what to say that I have not said in the past .We both just love this place and it is consistent in the food dept so you never have a bad night . The starter of prawns and baby squid is not to be missed followed by excellent john dory and cod with aioli. We were getting full up and decided to share a dessert. A meringue confection that was light and tasty. Very reasonable priced wine Verdijo (not the correct spelling ) .

No 31 another favourite place and I tried the new cocktail with gin and vermouth and smoked orange . Very theatrical and very potent !! Food was my fav clam starter followed by beef bourguignon, bliss. Sticky toffee pudding with ice cream for the other half which he would not share ! great wine suggestion and not expensive. Lovely place.

Maxims for a budget meal which was fine apart from my fish and chips which was not that great and the fish was on the turn .To be fair the owner deducted this from the cost . Hubby said that of the two pates he had this year in PP Maxims was the best .

Stay was next and the tried and trusted formula does the trick for us and the setting is really wonderful . Fixed price menu included the wine (that was a low point ) should have upgraded to a decent wine and paid the extra as we have done in the past . Starter of pate for him and serano ham and asparagus for me . We both had hake and clams which was very good followed by the usual special dessert of the day and ice cream confection type thing .

Our last night was supposed to be Plaza Uno but I forgot to check out when they had a day off and you guessed it Monday it was. So onto Trip advisor and we went to Tiera del Fuego . This was our least fav place as my steak was not trimmed of fat (filet steak) and despite asking for medium but no blood I got a steak barely cooked . When the waiter or owner came over to see how we were doing he actually said it depends on the cows how much fat was on the steaks ? Hubby had a burger and to be fair he said it was a good one. He did offer another steak but by then we wanted away.

Lunches were a mixture of bought in sandwiches Al fresco just great for those and a wee trip to Yacht Club for salads .
That's it for this visit . Perhaps a return trip to Sept but we will wait and see .

How lovely to see a Trip Report after so long. We see so few nowadays (hands up.....I’m guilty too!). We tried Amazo last year and found the “early doors” set menu great value. Trouble is, it’s identical this year and is a very pricey place. Maybe bite the bullet when we’re next out in June.

Thanks for a great review.

I agree; I always enjoyed reading the Trip Reports but they seem to have fallen by the wayside recently...

In that case let me add my short but sweet one:

Arrived very late Friday 24th May so just had drinks and snacks at home.

Saturday we woke to rain boo... So busied ourselves with supermarket, unpacking etc until it eased and then we took a leisurely walk to the port (we stay in Llenaire) stopping for lunch at Tolos so the kids could play on the beach despite the wet and windy weather. Lunch was lovely, I have found it a bit hit and miss in there the last few years but everyone enjoyed lunch that day, mix of pizzas and salads and all of a good standard. Continued our walk to the port stopping for drinks and snacks on the way meaning no dinner was needed so an early night hopeful the weather would improve.

Sunday was better although cloudy and chilly so not sunbathing weather. We camped to La Roca our absolute favourite beach bar and received a lovely warm welcome back by Julio. The kids disappeared off "fishing" off the pier and we had a tapas lunch on the beach. I still marvel at the lovely tapas food they produce in that tiny kitchen there. I urge anyone wanting tapas on the beach to please try it (and the trampo salad which I love). The children's play area is also another major bonus.

Dinner that evening was at Casa Vila Di Mare, our favourite of the Vila restaurants and also our nearest. My sons favourite restaurant as he rates the spaghetti bolognese and the best he has ever had (even over mine!!). To be fair all four of the children we had with us had it and wolfed a full sized adult portion down. The men had the cook your own steak on the hot stone which they said was lovely. We also had the seafood linguine and the vegetarian ravioli and all agreed it was a very good meal. The setting and decor does it for me too.

Monday we had friends visit who stayed at the Uyal which they said was nice. So it was back on the beach to meet but Embat this time. I love the bar but the food isn't amazing although the burgers were fine.
Dinner was 13 of us at Osteria no.15 which was lovely, the plan was to eat and head to Bonys but it was so nice sitting there we didn't move. The sharing platters to start were amazing, I love a sharing plate and these were done really well. The mains were all consistently good. I can't remember what everyone had but there were no complaints.

Tuesday the weather had improved again so we found ourselves back at La Roca for a loooong lunch.

Weds was our final day. The weather was our best despite rain forecast so all plans were cancelled in favour of laying round the pool. We then went to a firm local favourite of Suirell for dinner. Julie was on top form as always and a lovely meal was had by all. There was disappointment that the salt crusted sea bass had to be pre ordered (it did say we just missed that bit) but no one was disappointed by the ordinary sea bass and meat options picked. I had the lamb curry which was a lovely change, slow cooked melt in the mouth lamb in a mild curry sauce, I usually like my curries hot but it was so flavoursome mild was fine.

Until next time.

Thank you, Pratty; particularly since that's a part of the Port we never get to!

Also, I do agree... I miss the trip reports!
PP is something we will always have in common PrattyIG8!

We have been coming to P.P for over 25 years, always staying at The Pine Walk end of town. We bought an apartment in the same locality 4 years ago and I thought I had a really good knowledge of the town, especially the cafes and restaurants. But reading 'prattyIG8' report made me quite ashamed that I know virtually nothing about 'the other end of town'. I have heard of Tolos before but have not visited it or any of the other places mentioned.

So thanks for the report; might encourage us to be a bit more adventurous.

Luckjon - you should try and get in touch with Loz_eq (see Pine Walk, post #1), you might learn a lot from each other ..

This is my slightly different trip report:

I travelled out for a week by myself to get a few things done to the house (had a Carpenter and Electrician booked in) and take the opportunity to improve my fitness and just enjoy the area. I arrived on the night of the 31st and walked straight round to Suirrells for a very warm greeting from Julie and sat alone enjoying the Sea Bream and enjoying the pure fact that I was back! Next morning was a run the full length of the beach and Pine walk and back (4 miles) to take in PP, in all its early morning glory. I then walked down to Tri Green Sports to collect a bike I had bought from them. It was supposed to have been a once ridden ex rental, but turned out it had never been ridden, so a great bargain. Despite not riding road bikes in the UK, Ive decided somewhat reluctantly, that if you can't beat them, I'd better join them in Mallorca. Next day I rode to the Lighthouse and misjudged the first hairpin bend and nearly killed myself in a head on with a mini-bus! (One less cyclist I hear you say!) Anyway, I made it back okay and went for another run down the Pine walk and back on Sunday. That evening I went back to Siurrell and had the suckling pig which was excellent and very big......it really filled me up.

Next day I took on the mountains to Lluc and did a 45 mile circuit and in the evening walked past Siurrell and over to La Roca beach bar (same as Embat) and had a burger and beer overlooking the distant mountains turning pink in the sunset. This prepared me nicely for the Air Con Engineer visit the following day, who said I needed to replace two aging units at an eye watering 2200 euros! :(

I did a couple of barbies at home and finished off with a final meal of sardines at La Roca along with another long ride to the top of Sa Colobra and back on my final day (48miles)....decided against the descent and back due to tired legs. So 130 miles on the bike, 12 miles of running and Ive returned 5lbs lighter. Looking forward to another 8 days in mid July with almost all jobs completed, so more relaxed this time.

(La Roca is in a sensational position with friendly staff. The burger meal was 6/10 and the sardines which arrived with no chips (so -2) was 7/10) House Wine wasn't great either, but Amstel beer fine)

I wouldn't worry luckjon. Your'e one of many.
For years my late wife and I used to muse about how many people believed PP finished when you reached the bridge at Tolos.:)

Truth was, for over 30 years we had some of the most memorable moments
down that end. El Ancla, being the best of them, sadly now demolished (that's El Ancla and the wife).

Don't be shocked by wife reference. Without my sense of humour I wouldn't be around now.:D

With this much publicity we will not be able to get a table at our hidden gems Surriel, Swing, Roca Bar, Sparrows Bar and The Golden Lion in September.
