Well that's it all over for this trip.
We arrived late on a Tuesday last week so just wanted food asap. At 10.00 at night we went round to Dakota for a quick refuel and had chicken and beef fajitas and two beers for 33 euro's .Hit the spot then back to the Miramar for coffee and brandy . Staying at the Maricel apartments.
Next night was Amazo which we had tried for the first time last year and really enjoyed. We decided to splash out on the al a carte and so glad we did. prawns in tempura batter with veg and tuna tataki for mains for us both followed by coconut brulee which was not what we expected as the came in soup bowl based size plates and were massive . The waiter said their style of food is influenced by south American flavours and I think that is about right. Not the cheapest place once we added on the wine and water etc but we enjoyed.
El Posito the following night and I do not know what to say that I have not said in the past .We both just love this place and it is consistent in the food dept so you never have a bad night . The starter of prawns and baby squid is not to be missed followed by excellent john dory and cod with aioli. We were getting full up and decided to share a dessert. A meringue confection that was light and tasty. Very reasonable priced wine Verdijo (not the correct spelling ) .
No 31 another favourite place and I tried the new cocktail with gin and vermouth and smoked orange . Very theatrical and very potent !! Food was my fav clam starter followed by beef bourguignon, bliss. Sticky toffee pudding with ice cream for the other half which he would not share ! great wine suggestion and not expensive. Lovely place.
Maxims for a budget meal which was fine apart from my fish and chips which was not that great and the fish was on the turn .To be fair the owner deducted this from the cost . Hubby said that of the two pates he had this year in PP Maxims was the best .
Stay was next and the tried and trusted formula does the trick for us and the setting is really wonderful . Fixed price menu included the wine (that was a low point ) should have upgraded to a decent wine and paid the extra as we have done in the past . Starter of pate for him and serano ham and asparagus for me . We both had hake and clams which was very good followed by the usual special dessert of the day and ice cream confection type thing .
Our last night was supposed to be Plaza Uno but I forgot to check out when they had a day off and you guessed it Monday it was. So onto Trip advisor and we went to Tiera del Fuego . This was our least fav place as my steak was not trimmed of fat (filet steak) and despite asking for medium but no blood I got a steak barely cooked . When the waiter or owner came over to see how we were doing he actually said it depends on the cows how much fat was on the steaks ? Hubby had a burger and to be fair he said it was a good one. He did offer another steak but by then we wanted away.
Lunches were a mixture of bought in sandwiches Al fresco just great for those and a wee trip to Yacht Club for salads .
That's it for this visit . Perhaps a return trip to Sept but we will wait and see .
