Parking rules & charges in Puerto Pollensa

Would anyone be able to tell me what the rules are for parking in Puerto Pollensa?
We went last year and parked in a blue marked space on a side street a few blocks away from the beach but I can't for the life of me remember if we had to pay for it.
I'd like to know if we should be on the look out for meters or signs or if there are designated zones that we might accidentally park in without realising?
