Pollensa/Oro Playa-First-timers

We are coming to PP for the first time in 2004. Thinking about the Oro Playa apartments. We have a son age 9 and are wondering if this will suit us. Have heard differing reports.

Also want a general overview of PP ! We dislike 'British' style anything in Spain and enjoy eating out in more local/internatonal establishments. We don't like anything rowdy !Makes us sound boring-but we're not ! Please tell us we're making the right choice with Pollensa !!

Dear Boab

I think that you will find Puerto Pollensa to be a perfect family resort. The Oro Playa is in a lovely location behind the Pine Walk. I believe it does have entertainment & whilst you may not be keen on it - based on our experience, kids love it. There is a mixture of both 'British style' & more Mallorquín cafes & restaurants. If you want somewhere completely Mallorquín I think you would find that there would be less for your child to do. The beach is lovely, the resort is relaxed, easy going & not at all rowdy since it is frequented mainly by families & older couples. There are lots of cafes & restaurants so you don't need to visit any of the 'British' ones if you prefer not too.

Give it a try - you won't regret it!

Bob - I have never stayed at the Ora Playa but have often used the pool area there when my children were small - they loved it - and took part in all the activites - my son even won the table tennis championship one year!! - it is a good spot to be in for the beach and shops and restraurants ......
