Proof of Funds at Palma Airport?

We are coming in September and checking information we need to have handy for passport control to allow us entry to Mallorca. Do we need to carry proof of funds and answers to the 46 questions that are posted on websites or is this a just a rumour to deter tourists? 2 of our party have renewed their passports as expiry date was 'tight' to avoid complications.

You only require passports to enter Mallorca. I arrived last week.
