Hi, going to Pollensa in May, first time since 2017, funny twist,we took our two daughters there for years when they were younger now they are bringing us, must admit it feels a bit strange, I am sure it has changed a bit since.
Unfortunately I am a smoker and was wondering what current situation is regarding smoking outside bar/restaurants and beach, will be staying in hobby club.

@jmac
Can't tell you about the current situation regarding smoking, but have a great time on your return to PP.

Here's an article from '23 about some beaches being smoke-free.

The covid-related ban on smoking on terraces has been lifted, as far as I read.
There are plans to Outlaw smoking on beaches and terraces in Spain generally, but I couldn't find anything more up to date than the article below.
Restaurants can however set their own restrictions, I think, so you might be butter off asking beforehand.

Still plenty of folks smoking at tables outside bars and restaurants in Pollenca. They don't generally cause an issue.

Smoking is another aspect of Spanish life still very much in the 80s

Smoking inside or outside establishments is never acceptable except to other smokers.

Places like Bony Bar on the square encourage smokers to use the area outside the seating area to smoke, providing ashtrays etc.

Be considerate.

El Gordon , I appreciate the fact that you are a long time member.
I don't appreciate the tone of your reply.
I never smoke where it is prohibited or anywhere near other people who are non smokers.
My smoking is always in areas designated and always considerate.

With respect, El Gordo was only articulating a view held, I would imagine, by most non-somokers. You made it very clear in your original post that you wanted to be guided by the rules, so you are clearly very thoughtful towards others. I do think that you have rather overreacted here and I’m sure no offence was intended. Perhaps “Please be considerate “ might have taken the sting out of the comment!! Have a lovely holiday.😊
