Safety Deposit Boxes

Looking forward to our visit in June, staying in a private apartment right on the beach.
Only worry I have is that there is no safety deposit box available to our apartment.
What options do we have have for securing my property (passports, travel documents, cash, cameras and suchlike) during my visit. Are there are companies that off a safety deposit box service, or is it a case of carrying it all around with us for the whole holiday, or simply taking the chance and stashing it under the pillow ?
