We are coming over in September for 2 weeks, but getting worried, as any reports from friends and family indicate that customer service in restaurants and bars is very poor, worse even than last year. I am not talking about PP specifically, but rather Spain as a whole, including PP.

I also appreciate that it is not the fault of the restaurants themselves, but rather the knock on effect of Covid Furlough, shortened working hours, etc.

However I would appreciate the opinions of other Forum members who are there now, or who have been there recently, in case my expectations are set too high.

Thanks.

We were out in July/August and had great service at Stay, Brisa Marina, C’an Josep, Centric, Cellar La Parra, Bocchoris, El Posito, La Llonga, and Zarzales.

On the negative side, the service in Portofino and Casa Villa were both truly dreadful, though the food was OK.

Booking ahead was pretty well essential in July/August.

Hope that helps.

On Thursday when we return to the UK we will have used up our 90 days in PP this year, we have found the service as friendly as normal, occasionally when a restaurant is very busy you may have to wait a bit longer while you enjoy the views, weather and enjoy yourself.😀

I totally agree, it is busy but the service is still good

There have been some staffing issues as many from the mainland who come to work for the season haven’t come this year due to the cost of accommodation. Having said that I found the service everywhere I went to be good, although I’m never in a hurry on holiday, so if I have to wait a bit longer than usual it doesn’t bother me. With the exceptional heat this year I would have expected the service to be a bit slower but we never noticed a difference.

We were in PP early in May when the season was just starting. Some restaurants were just opening whilst others had closed completely. The service we got was no better nor worse than previous years.
Whilst some could have done with a few extra staff at busy times this did not detract from the overall experience.
As it was just following what was really a two year lockdown we think that the whole port did a great job. It was great to be welcomed back by many old friends.
We had pity for those establishments around the square as the building works were progressing at a " manyana " pace which must have deterred many visitors and caused financial problems for the market traders.
We are back next month and hope that the square is now complete. Not seen many comments regarding this on the forum.

Looked a a few Youtube videos, and yes the square is finally finished.

Good to hear that service has not fallen away, due to staff shortages, looking forward to Sept 3rd.

Isn't it 90 days in 180 so you could actually come back in mid-November if your 90 days were continuous?

Google Schengen calculator and it tells you how much time left or when visit again. Very easy to use - and yes 90 days in 180 but it is rolling and counts back.

I should have been clearer, we have used our 90 days of the 180 so far but as its a rolling 180 days would be able to come back before the end of the year.

I seriously can't believe that they can keep track of these 180 days for everyone, especially as there becomes more and more people involved. Not that I'm suggesting one should try their luck! :) Its a bit like all the hype over the tourist licence, if you want to rent out your villa and only advertise in the UK and take payments there, no one would ever know.
