Sunday Lunch Suggestions

Whenever we visit PP, which is a few times a year now for a long weekend, we tend to eat out most evenings but like to find somewhere for lunch on Sunday. As we are regualar visitors we tend to stick to set menus.

So guys, any suggestions for reasonably priced Sunday lunches.

As a start I will mention Ikebana and el Posito who both have set menus and are normally open at this time of year.

Hi pollensa, If you want to to mix with the locals go to Cellar Es Moli which does an amazing value set menu. The last time we went it was 8€ and that included 3 choices of starters and mains, a pudding, wine, bread and water . Simple but tasty food in a wonderful atmosphere(noisy!!),and great value for money!

Cellar es Moli is in a converted old mill ,on a corner not far from the Roman bridge in Pollensa. Sorry I don't know the precise road names

We have been there once by chance. We arrived quite late & managed to get a table so I assume you need to arrive either early or late.

Sunday lunch

Couldn't agree more with Debz. We have been there many times and have always loved it. It is a little more expensive on a Sunday. During the week its 8/8.50 euro's but on Sundays it's about 13 euro's. Still great value.

We were recommended to it a few years ago and arrived at 12.45 to all tables laid with wine open but not a soul in sight! Evidently they don't serve until 1pm but then the floodgates opened and the restuarant was full within 20 mins. workmen, ex-pats and holidaymakers - the atmosphere is great. The other bonus for those of longstanding in PP is that one of the 2 main chefs is Grace who has cooked in many a restuarants in the port and went there to learn real Mallorcan cooking. You may remember her in the old Tribeca with Lucy, Anneka and Jacqui.

El Moli is a definite every time we are in PP.

Went to El Celler de Moli in Pollensa in the first week in October – The set lunch menu was still 8 Euros.
It is on the corner of the streets Para Vives and Mar.
Debz recommended it to me in an earlier post ( thanks Debz ) but we couldn’t make lunchtime but went in the evening.
There is no set menu in the evening and so obviously more expensive but the food and service was excellent.
The price for our starters ( We both had Sopa Mallorquina ) was 5.50 Euros each and for mains ( we both had Goat done in the oven ) was 15.50 Euros each.
A large beer was 3 euros and coffee 1 euro 75
It was a Wednesday evening and there was a saxophonist playing jazz from 8 till 11 – Don’t know whether that is a regular thing on a Wednesday but it added to the already excellent ambiance.We will definitely go again next year.
Another of our typical Mallorquian favourites is La Taberna Del Temple in Pollensa which we stumbled across in 2007 but they don’t do a set menu as far as I know.The ambiance there is also great as is the food and service.
