Hi, or should that be Hola?

My family and I are currently considering a holiday in Alcudia.

This would be our fist holiday to Majorca. We have enjoyed many holidays in Greece and one of the fun things we like to do is take the mini tourist trains as they trundle along at a pace that allows the passenger to see things that a taxi doesn't.

I understand from this article alcudiapollensa: Alcúdia mini-train that mini tourist trains have just returned to the resort. Does anybody have any experience of using the trains? If so any information on routes/timing/prices would be of interest.

Hello zedzdead (and welcome to the forum). There are two trains. A trip costs 3 euros for an adult, 1.50 for a child. They operate between the Bellevue tourist centre and the port, going alongside the main road from the Bellevue mile past the Magic roundabout and turning off just short of the port and returning via the horse roundabout and then Hidropark before coming back to Bellevue. (If all this makes sense.) On market days, the trains also run into the old town, which may put the price up a bit. Not sure on that. They run well into the evenings.

Just a correction to the previous. Kids are 1.20 not 1.50. Also, the trains don't actually go into the old town on market days. I was working on info I had been told. I've now got it for myself. There is a stop on the route which says for Alcudia market and mentions the market days (one of them wrong because they are Tuesdays and Sundays and not Thursdays and Sundays, as the train map has it), but this is a normal stop which is a walk away from the old town. Times are basically every 40 minutes (both trains) and they run through the day from 9am until around midnight.

Thanks

Not being very familiar with Alcudia, I've had a bit of fun this morning trying to follow your directions on Google Street view.

I think that the fact that there is one and that it appear to run from close to where we're looking at staying means that we may actually be coming to Alcudia for the first time.

Thanks for the detailed responses.
