Hi

Just wondered if anyone had stayed here recently and what the rooms are like? I know there are some kitchen facilities in them but do I need to take some of our own cutlery, plates etc ??

Don't plan on eating in much but as I have a 2 year old he will probably want snacks and his usual drink of milk before bedtime! Cannot wait to come to Puerto Pollensa!

Hi new here, we stayed at Puerto Azul last year there is nothing in the kitchen plates knives etc.Also you pay on arrival,not much though, for the fridge, it is very useful.We enjoyed it and are returning this July.

hi pips, just got back from this hotel tonight. hotel rooms are very spacious and really clean. pools are lovely and the staff are very nice. first choice reps seem to do quite a bit for the children. i have none as they are grown up now but noticed they had a few puppets etc. lovely little play area for small children in soft clean sand. fridge was 2.5 euros a day. it sounds expensive but if you go euroski center just a few streets away you can fill up with big bottles of pop quite reasonably. even if you pay for fridge, cooker does not work, they must be connected seperatley. no cups or anything if you are half board. no kettles in rooms. apart from that hotel is good. not much doing of a night other than hotel based entertainment but with a toddler you will be fine. food is ok if you are hb, always found something suitable. no tv's in rooms. hope you have a good time. i would not recommend puerto pollensa if you have teenagers travelling with you as it is very much a saga town but nice all the same.

HI smithy turned 50 2 weeks ago so thanks for the saga comment, one thing PP is not is a saga town, with its beautiful beaches and child friendly restaurants and facilities its at heart a family resort with enough to keep the whole family entertained.

Just to add to what the others have said with a few more tips I have picked up.

The rooms with the balconys facing the pool area can be a bit noisy up until 11ish as the entertainment is carried out round the pool area. We havent got any little ones so we have requested a pool facing room so we can watch from our balcony with a nice glass of wine.

In one of the blocks (C, I think) there is a swap box. This is where previous guests leave bits and bobs that they dont want to take home such as lilos, armbands, swim rings, buckets and spades etc. Good idea again if you have little ones to borrow items for the week and pop them back when you leave for the next guests. There is also a local charity shop that sells inflatables for a couple of euros rather than 10E plus in some of the shops.

There is a laundry area and an iron available for use so no need to pack a travel iron.

Ive packed my travel kettle and some plastic plates, cutlery etc just so we can have a cup of tea, glass of wine or snacks etc in the room. We are planning on hiring the fridge and stocking up at the Eroski as im told the Spa is quite expensive.

Anyway, must finish packing as my taxi is coming at 9am Hope you and your family have a wonderful time as im sure you will.

Agree with sws - PP is most definately not a saga town. My kids are 17 and 20 and have been coming to PP since they were born and they have loved every visit.

NO definately not a SAGA town! Although if you want a little bit more commercial style entertainment for children, Porta Alcudia is only a short drive away around to the next bay.

Quite right not a Saga town! We've been coming for over 20 years since our boys were toddlers. I was really chuffed when my eldest (now 24) phoned up the other night & asked when we were next coming out. I said end June - do you want to use the apt? Well, he said, can I come with you? I was really pleased he wanted to come (& with us!).

And back to the Puerto Azul - we stayed there 3 years in a row when our boys were younger & they loved it. Sounds as if the rooms are the same. You pay for the fridge which is very useful but the cooker does not work. I think it must have been built as self-catering origonally & then changed to an aparthotel with HB. We found the room layout with fridge, table & chairs really useful to make our own lunches. We used to take out basic cutlery with us & make sandwiches etc.

Have to agree with the no-way-saga-town bitz. Plus, PP is one of the few places where a female can be out on her own, or with young family and feel safe and relaxed.
But to be fair, for some young teenagers, depending on thier outlook, PP would be a bit on the quiet side - but as Belladonna mentioned, Alcudia is not that far away.

One of my terrible teenagers stormed off last year in a huff on the walk back from an evening meal out in the square. He reappeared a while later at the apartment and when I told him off he said " I know this place better than the other side of town and it is safer here than the city centre (at home) that's why I will bring my kids when I have them". I tell you it brought a lump to my throat. My parents have just returned from a week at the Daina and youngest terrible teenager was complaining as we are leaving him at home when we visit in September. So no way is it a Saga town - it is an almost perfect family resort

Couldn't agree more Joelise! We've had quite a few 'storming offs' over the years with our three, and countless times with them rolling home at 6am. There're plenty of bars that stay open late, and then Chivas to entertain them till sunrise....although in their words it's the worst club ever, but fun if you're with friends!

They are now in their late twenties and 30 and still want to come on their PP hols with us at some point during the year... plus 2 grand children! The nights are spent more quietly now although, depending on the mood, they can still push the boat out and go for it .....and they normally drag us along for the ride

The teens and early 20s in our family just love puerto pollensa ........ as have teenagers of all our friends who have visited so I don't think anyone travelling with teens should be put off.

My daughter and her 2 friends came with us 2 years ago and still talk about it! They tried Alcudia a couple of times but ended coming back to PP early, in a taxi. They had a ball in PP, going to Chivas, dining, and having their pre-disco drink on the beach with friends, during the day they lolled about the main beach, with the sports on offer. Teenagers may wish to go to hell-holes like Magaluff, but PP is hassle-free for them, and they are "kings of the castle" there.
