Having been stuck in the house all day with the children and their "lurgy" I managed to escape to Morrisons to hunt down the above wine as recommended by Portofan and Jimsboy.
I opened it as I prepared the dinner and decided it was delicious! The wine is lovely and soft, with a taste of cherries and a hint of vanilla. It's slightly dry but very drinkable. It's made from the Tempranillo grape (same as Rioja) which were handpicked.
The blurb says: Aged for more than 24 months in American oak barrels. The nose is intense with dark fruit, spice and vanilla aromas. Serve with grilled and lean meats, poultry and game.
I think, at £6.49, it's fantastic value (you won't get many Gran Reservas at this price) and if, like Jimsboy says, you can buy it in PP, you'll not go wrong!
Enjoy!
