Walk to Cala Boquer

Hi!

Has anyone done the walk recently?

A few years since we did it and well remember, the variety of bird life to be seen up there and of course the goats.

And the cooling beer at Coral when you got down again!:)
 
We walked along there last week. Still very beautiful and fortunately very quiet when we went. The only problem we had was over-friendly goats. People had obviously been feeding them and now the goats expect to share your food if you have any!
 
Where is Cala Boquer exactly and is it easy to get to? Thanks.

Look at our map of the Pine Walk http://www.puertopollensa.com/maps/pinewalk.html & then Grid Ref E3 you will see a roundabout on the bypass. Avenida Bocchoris (with Oro Playa on it) leads up to the roundabout. Cross over the bypass here & the green area that you see on our map actually has a path starting from the roundabout which goes through the Boquer Valley.

After a long walk across the mountains we were hoping for a secluded sandy beach.

Unfortunately, all we found was pebbles and shingle.

What a disappointment.
 
Sorry David - this really is a walk to admire the vistas, flora, forna and wildlife. I think you will find most of the secluded beach turn out to be pebble beaches

What made you think there was a secluded sandy beach there:confused:
 
Worth going to look at birds(feathered).Went in Sept but again the water was full of jellyfish, this has been the case on 3 separate occasions
 
When we asked at the tourist office on Monday (I think it was) if it was open they said it was. We haven't actually walked up there yet.
 
I would be most surprised if the walk was 'closed'. They've been threatening to close it for years.
Its a great walk but DON'T EXPECT a wonderful beach at the end. I really don't know why people expect it!
There is a small clear bay (often with washed up drinks cans etc.) with a decent view towards the 'view point' area etc. Its rocky and stony.

Also see the forum's updated map, it shows the start of the walk to Boquer.
The overall updated map of P.Pollensa prints off very clearly at A4.

As you say Pescador if you're expecting a beautiful beach you'll be very disappointed although it's an enjoyable walk. Having said that I did rather dramatically trip over a rock, staggered a few paces in a very ungainly fashion to try and stay upright, didn't succeed and fell and grazed my knees. Hubby and friends thought it hilarious...I didn't :mad: On our little adventure we saw a few goats (one with only 3 legs!) and a SNAKE, who slivered across the path in front of us. So all in all quite an action packed few hours. In future I'll stick to what I do best..lazing on the beach with a cold beer!

Some Mallorquin friends of ours once told us they often used to go and camp at Boquer for a few days taking only water, bread, olives etc and loads of wine and beer . Any protein? Oh yes! Freshly caught fish and the odd goat if they could tackle one to the ground...Now that's getting back to nature!!:eek:
 
I am having a serious case of deja vu with this post debz!:rolleyes: Obviously an experience which sticks in your mind! Perhaps the 3 legged goat was one that got away from your friends!

Oh!!! but it was a very tasty, tender leg cooked on an open fire with wild rosemary...but she calmed down after a couple of glasses of wine;);).
 
We did the walk last week as we hadn't been for a year or so, it looked great in the winter, different plants and wildlife about as it wasn't so warm as the summer, although we ended up stripping down to tee shirts as it was so hot and sunny, had a well earned swim at the end too.





We had a picnic on the beach and in the sun it was like summer, apart form one couple who came done for a while we had the place to ourselves. A bit more rubbish has accumulated through the winter, so if you do go bring back a bag full like we did.





The path back up from the beach is still well marked and you cant really get lost, great views of the port and Gotmar on the way back.
