Morning all.

We're currently staying in a lovely villa situated between Pollensa and the Port, in the countryside behind Eroski. We're thorough enjoying our time back here, having not been able to make it last year.

However, every night since we arrived on Saturday, there has been a dog that has started barking at about 8pm, which finishes barking at about 7am! And it quite literally barks all night. We don't have air con in the villa, so we're sleeping with windows open. Ear plugs help, but it's such a piercing bark that I can still hear it.

Anybody else ever experienced this? I wonder if it's a wild dog because surely somebody wouldn't be able to put up with their own dog barking incessantly like that.

On the plus side, it's lovely and quiet during the day!

Oh, and we're loving this sun and heat that you've arranged for us - thanks Sparky!

I remember a few years ago a dog was barking about 10ft away from our bedroom window and in the end my husband got so sick of it, he jumped out of bed about 5am and went outside and just yelled at it to STOP BARKING (or words to that effect - not printable here;) It did and there wasnt a peep out of it for the rest of our stay:D I know you have to accept 'countryside' noises, some of which are relaxing like the sheeps bells and baa's, and the owls etc but I agree there is nothing more annoying than constant barking. I hope it doesnt ruin your holiday - I always use earplugs anyway - someone who shall be nameless does snore in the early hours;)

It didn't bark last night!!! At last, a decent nights sleep.

Perhaps Mr Rosie34 had a few words with it!

Maybe, just maybe if they showed the dog some affection, or heaven forbid let it in the house, they might stop barking. In any walks I've taken through the lanes and roads in PP and surrounding area, most of the dogs I seen were tethered to a chain or in a cage. I still think the way a country teats its animals, reflects on them, and in Spain in General, they have nothing to be proud of.

We have stayed in that area and it is possible that it is the guard dog for the Repsol depot behind Eroski and opposite the big plumbers merchants on the Poligono. The dog is a big black thing and very aggressive, gets let loose in the compound at 8 when they close up and brought in when the guys come in the following morning.
