We are visiting PP for the first time in over 10 years, I am sure things have changed but hopefully not too much. For us we are certainly older and our son is now a full time wheelchair user, are the local buses to Pollensa and Alcudia wheelchair accessible? We are visiting from 22nd April for a week, very much looking forward to revisiting PP. Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum, Jackie. Wishing you and your family a very happy return visit to PP in April.

I'll leave the answer whether the local buses are wheel-chair accessible to the PP locals or recent visitors, so not to give you incorrect info.

The local route 322 from Pollenca to Port d'Alcúdia is designated as 'low-floor bus', which would indicate to me, that it is wheelchair accessible. I haven't found any specific info on the TIB website.

see route info here (300 covers buses in the northern area of the island)

Taxi Pollensa for example also offer 'adapted taxis' as they call it. Booking is only per app. I don't have personal experience using them, so that's just for info.

Have a great trip and perhaps you can give the forum an update about your trip and about how accessible you found PP and the transport options?

Thank you so much for your reply, all very useful information. I will certainly update the forum once we are back. Picking up bits of information from looking at old posts, I can see the bus station has moved, fond memories of trying to find shade whilst waiting for the inevitably crowded bus in the height of summer. Looking forward to revisiting old haunts, I believe Bonys is still there:-) Thanks again

I think that the local buses only have normal access, but the buses do drop down to facilitate easier boarding. With a wheelchair you normally get on and off using the middle doors, while 1 person pays at the front. The long haul buses, to Palma etc, have wheelchair ramps.

Quick update now that we are back from PP. Access on the buses was really good, buses to Alcudia and Pollensa were low level access with a ramp for the middle doors. We went to Can Picafort changing in Alcudia and again very easy with the wheelchair. Appreciate that in summer when buses are busier this might not be the case! Puerto Pollensa was a delight, we had forgotten how beautiful it is. It is so easy to push the wheelchair on the front, the Pine Walk is a bit of a bone shaker :-) Bocchoris had an amazing disabled toilet but our hotel, the Marsenses went above and beyond. The bathroom was amazing, so much bigger and wider than a normal bathroom. Staff were amazing and I would highly recommend.

@Jackie80777

Thank you for the brilliant update and all the into. (y)
Delighted to hear, that you enjoyed your return to PP.

I understand that the owner of Bocchoris has a young son who is permanently wheelchair bound, which may explain the reason so much thought went into its design.
