Where to eat in Llenaire area ?

Hi
We are Pollensa newbies, coming out for a week next Monday. We've a 7 year old and a 14 month old and staying at the Bahia Pollensa. As we are a fair way out from the port and pine walks etc. we may have to eat more locally. Can anyone recommend anywhere good or conversely let us know of anywhere to avoid ! Would like Spanish food but with options for children and also Chinese or Indian.

Eating in Llenaire

There is of course Restaurant Llenaire which is just down the road. The food is OK, but not as good as it used to be, (or is that just me getting old?)
The menu is fairly comprehensive; kids can be safe, while Mum and Dad can be a bit more daring.
A ten minute walk towards the Port will bring you to La Maina by the roadside or Tamarells on the beach.
If you get tired of these, Bahia Pollensa can get you a Taxi up to the Port itself. Failing all this, come and knock at ours, we live just over the road, and I'm always eating something!!

Welcome to the forum - I love G&B too - I'm not sure if you can get it in PP but you can get plenty of other strong Dark chocolate.

Thanks Mallorcaboy - that was quick ! Is Restaurant Llenaire any good ? I haven't seen it recommended by anyone ... would any of these be within a 15 min walk ? Taj Mahal, O Lune, Tango, Little Italy, Caprabo ... as they all seem to have been rated if you have children. Also, is Bar Llenaire the same as Restaurant Llenaire ?

Firstly, yes it is the same place, and it's OK but I wouldn't say it was on my top ten list, but it's convenient, but also not the cheapest. The Paella is good though.
As for the other places, except Caprabo which is a supermarket, it will take about 15-20 mins or so to walk up into the Port where all these and many more are, but it's a nice flat walk, on a broad pavement by the beach.

Bar Ancla is good local bar/restaurant and only a few minutes on from La Maina. La Maina looks basic, but good value food, local wine and friendly service. Tamarells good for pizza, but probably better for lunch or a beer(s) after the being on the beach.

We had a meal in Rest. Llenaire this holiday, mainly for its convenience to our apartment, which is just at the back of the Bahia Pollensa. The food was perfectly pleasant. The frito de marisco was an especially good starter, and the waiters are very friendly. We also tried Hotel Galeon next door, which has a fantastic view of the bay and served us a good paella, which even our small daughter enjoyed! Don't recommend the strawberries & mascarpone dessert though...

We ate in the Llenaire restaurant a couple of times last year, while it was nothing to rave about the food was very nice and a nice setting especially at breakfast time with a large black coffee looking out to sea.

With a young family I would also recommend the Sparrow restaurant,it's not quite in the Llenaire district but only a 10 minute walk, appparently it changed hands before we went there and others on the forum would say it's not as good as it used to be, but we didn't know it then. They have a very nice terrace to the rear of the restaurant and the staff were very good the food was not traditional Mallorquin but they did nice snacks, Pasta dishes and steaks etc. Our apartment backed right onto it so it was very handy for a lunchtime drink and a snack.
You will find the Sparrow by turning left at the Pollenca Park Hotel then turn right after some apartments with a pub below.

We ate in the Restaurant Llenaire last year and found it o.k., but the food at the Bahia Pollensa itself is just as good and cheaper too!

Getting to the port is easy with buses running every 15 minutes until 8 in the evening. Get a taxi back. Although the walk shouldn't be too much for a 7 year old.

Restaurant LLenaire is a great "local" restaurant, with David being very friendly and remembering you next visit. It has become a restaurant that we can pop into when we arrive, or have a good lunch with a bit of people / sea watching. more of a local type atmosphere / meeting place than top restaurant, but its one of our favourites for that reason.

Well, we just got home after a great week (apart from the day it rained) and ate out at some lovely places, which were:-

Resturant Llenaire - once lunch and once evening (gorgeous paella ciega !!)
Tiberi, near the square - staff were the best with our baby and daughter and food had a modern kind of twist. The ice cream selection which we shared between the three of us was heavenly.
Tango - didn't realise it was so huge & was really busy but the set menu was good value and the crooner was lovely and kept singing all the way through our visit
Tolos - opposite the beach down by the canal. Lovely pizzas and great location though my hubby insisted on sitting inside :\
Neptune - tapas were great here !
Bahia Pollensa - we stayed in on BBQ night when it was all you could eat from the BBQ with baked potatoes/chips, salad, ice cream and a jug of sangria for 15 euros for adults.

Saw a couple of places that looked really nice if we had been out for a nice leisurely (child free) night - esp. Los Zarzales.

So all in all we enjoyed our week and look forward to going back in the future although I have to say the places we have been in Menorca have the edge for very young child friendly credentials.

I have found the Restaurant Llenaire to be very average (frozen chicken and chips) and not very good value for money. THe Hotel Galeon beside it is far superior, family friendly and better value for money. I particulary recommend the Chateau Briande and the hake.

Good recommendations GBA thanks! Sorry you feel like that about Restaurant Llenaire Ewan, must have been an off day, give them another chance and try a more local dish
