Probably just trying to look for anything to do/something which makes money in a recession. In fairness I think things like Zhan at the golf club are great (what a setting) but you still have to get there/taxi and when times are tight people don't (often) splash out on new properties/boats/health clubs or night clubs!

Yes you are right. They must have thousands tied up in unsold new developments. Heard they got foreign backing for Zhan - not sure if thats right - need to sell loads of drinks to get good return on that expenditure I would think.

I haven't heard of Zhan before and just googled it. It really does look interesting. Not being a golfer, can you confirm that when you are talking about Pollensa golf club, its the one at Au Canada, or if not please tell me where. Is Zhan for public use or just members?

Zhan is at Pollensa golf club (which is owned by BHI) ..... it is a 'chill out bar' the idea being, I think, that the bar facililities are used into the night when, obviously, the course itself is closed. If you have never been there before the setting is magnificent with a splendid view over Pollensa bay. Lunches on the terrace are very relaxed, take in the view with a snack meal and a glass of chilled Rose - highly recommended - as an non golfer I like the fact that the clubhouse does not have the air of a 'Gentleman's Club'.

Ok, but WHERE is Pollensa Golf Club!? I know it may be painfully obvious to those who take an interest in golf but for the others of us, some directions would be helpful!

Out from Pollensa towards Sa Pobla/Inca/Palma - main road - golf club is on the left hand side around half a mile (?) beyond Pollensa. Tricky turning in.

Yes (and non players welcome) - drinks tend to be on the expensive side but well worth it really for the view. From memory a beer is 3euro. Lunchtime snack menu reasonably priced. Plenty of parking and there is an outdoor infinity pool although I have never seen anyone use it.

Spoke to someone 'in the know' in the Port and they said that BHI paid 9 mil just for the lease on land of the golf course! Had outside backing but has really put them up against it. so I have been told. This person visited last Friday and there were only 7 people there at that time!
Was told they were in real trouble. Not sure how true this.?
Bit too far out of either the Port or the Old Town to be of any use really IMO. although of course, during daytime the views are lovely.
Maybe a good time to buy one of their properties - cheap!
