Two Observations This Weekend

(1) The Port is not overly crowded for mid-April and was quite quiet last night for a Friday evening but it is full of French families and tourists (which, in advance of any pre-judging, is no bad thing!). I haven't encountered this many French people in PP since I was a toddler too many years ago to mention and Pascalino was 'the' French cafe/bar/restaurant!

(2) The level of seaweed/plankton/fungi that has settled in the shallow waters from the Daina along past the Miramar and up to and beyond Joker is considerable for this time of year. The sea is brown and the smell in parts is putrid. A heavy storm or three is needed in conjunction with some man made intervention before the season kicks off properly at the start of May.

The french are coming!

Maybe the French interest in Majorca will mean I can get direct flights soon! Nice is the second airport in France and it is much cheaper for me to go to the UK and out again to get to Palma!! Still, I use the time to see my family in Newcastle , so no hardship at all.
When I first moved here I did some fascinating routes to get to Palma....eg, Nice-frankfurt-palma......and Nice -milan -Barcelona-palma, to name but two. It's better now, but still not easy and very expensive. You look at a map and think you could do it in a rowing boat(almost!)

We noticed a lot more French around even last year, thats a good sign, it is best when a resort doesn't just cater for a few nationalities!

Where are all the Italians then every other restaurant in the port seems to be one of theirs
