This is from today's Daily Mail website! I think they just sit in their offices and make this stuff up.

Coach drivers yesterday rejected a possible deal in their strike over pay, meaning further misery for the thousands of British tourists heading to Majorca, Menorca and Ibiza.
Holidaymakers arriving on the islands also had to wait in taxi queues for three hours or more before being able to reach their villas and apartments.
Return flights to the UK were also severely affected and 7,000 people spent Friday night at Palma airport, Majorca, after their planes home were delayed.
Passengers also slept overnight at Manchester Airport after experiencing similar delays.
An Airtours flight bound for Palma should have left at 2.35pm yesterday but was not due to depart now until 12.52pm today, an airport spokeswoman said.

It is really strange, there is nothing in the Mallorcan papers or on the TV news about this .

Bizarre. Why do they put it out with today's date on it?
Confused me. And made our guests leave a day early!

El Gordo, on my pc it looks like any other Mail story...on tablet you can see the date of the original story, if you look closely....different browser, IE on pc, Chrome on tablet?

Not wishing to tempt fate, but haven't seen anything about adverse effects of flying in S Europe as a consequence of these stoppages, other than the usual scare stories in Mail & others per google..... perhaps more of a symbolic protest in the face of the Government's determination to keep things running...after all, they need every euro they can get at present.....

Graham, they didn't put it out....once things are posted, that one from 2001, google will always find them, even if years out of date

Daughter was flying from Newcastle to Belfast last night, after being slightly delayed they were eventually told 2 hours later that because of the strike in Majorca the flight was cancelled. It was a real scramble to rebook, there's only 1 flight on a Saturday!! She missed out on that but did get the last room in the Premier Inn, place was full of Scotland supporters coming over for the match. With a lot of work managed to get her home via Dublin, now for the claims process, hope it doesn't happen to anyone else.

I think that Airtours is now part of Thomas Cook and does not now exist as a separate entity. So the news item must be very old.

As it was the first item on Google I like others just assumed it was the latest news !!

Good job we have this forum to keep us up to date I hadnt heard anything about coaches on strike before but know what a problem that causes

Thanks for all the updates and hope no one has too many problems !
