I think you're probably right although most of the original reports about the series have said that it is the most expensive drama ever made for / by the BBC in its history!

Expensive because of the locations and logistics in the main.
I would hate to think my licence fee went on such a pyrotechnic display, I mean, how many planes did they shoot down?!

As much as I'm enjoying The Night Manager ..more for the shots of La Forteleza than the story, although I am getting into it now. The thing or should I say person who is beginning to grate a bit for me is the Jonathan Pine (Andrew Birch) character.
Although very easy on the eye I don't think his acting is that good. I have never seen a more guilty looking face every time he's questioned by Roper! He always gives the same simpering smile which screams 'I'm not on your side mate'

It's the last one next week, so not going to knock it , but keep envisaging Daniel Craig in the part! 
Loving it though, very fast paced and great locations!

Dead! The middle eastern guys warned there would be "consequences".
Have to say, I thought the acting was generally very good. Big fan of Olivia Colman - she does such versatile roles. Did think there was some "over acting" by Hugh Lawrie, but not enough to spoil it.
