and again its more negativity, although I haven't heard a valid reason why the didn't install the drop curbs as they went along anyway!!

Because, and as far as I understand, the road between the roundabout and Avda Paris will be at the same level as the pavement.

From Avda Paris onwards there will be speed bumps / pedestrian crossings also at the same level as the pavements, both on the main road as well as on all roads leading onto it.

I appreciate what you are saying but isn't this going to be stage 2 of the work starting next winter?

Yes, but I was explaining why drop kerbs are not included in the project.

I have no idea what the temporary solution ( if there is one ) will be for the rest of this year.

MdR I think most people understand that this will happen eventually but, for anyone going to PP with a disability or young children, it will cause a lot of problems if there isn't a temporary fix. Let's hope there will be one sooner rather than later ...

So you are saying there will be crossings on A Paris and all roads that join the main road? What about all the emergency access and bike parks along the beach, and the shops to unload goods and access for all the villas and houses who have drives

I'm sure it will be all sorted..

Mind you....second phase of the Gommar improvements didn't materialise this year!

Keep your fingers crossed and chill!!

Ask Town Hall, not me.

I will re-post this in case some of you missed it :-

Removal of barriers to the works of pedestrianisation of the first line of the port de pollença.
The City that the works of the pedestrianisation of the first line of the port de pollença are not yet finished, and that the final fitness for people with reduced mobility won't be ready until the end of the second phase of works to be executed Winter 2016-2017, since the surface of cobblestones will remove the current steps on the sidewalk. By this summer will be temporary solutions to ensure mobility for disabilities; these adjustments will be implemented in the next few weeks.
Since the city is pray a little more patience and to be sorry about the inconvenience of this period of works.

disabled access

Having over the past few years had to spend time using both wheelchairs and motability trollies I can sympathise with those affected by the recent reworks along the sea front. However, even at my age and restricted ability I would not hesitate to assist anyone having a problem with a kerb ect and I feel certain that I am not alone in this. Yes I agree the situation is not yet perfect for disabled visitors / residents but given time I feel certain the problem will be resolved. I do however do agree whole heartedly with your contributor earlier who raised the concern about the cyclists, having on more than on occasion narrowly avoided injury walking along the pedestrian promenade. Ramps and cyclists apart, 8 days and counting.:D

Work is finally starting on the path across the front of the old el Ancla site, and also the wraps are coming off at Hotel Romantic. :):)

Having walked along the road, they have already installed drop curbs at drives and in front of the supermarket near the galleon.

It'll be all right on the night!!

We have now seen it for ourselves ( well only the bit from Santa Fe down to roundabout so far ) and it is far better than we thought . Apart from dropped kerbs my only concern was the area around some of the large trees ..there is a a considerable gap in the pavement surface around them , could easily cause a trip / accident and it cosiderably narrows the pavement in those areas
When we left in January we never thought that they would have completed this phase.😃😃

The first phase seems to have gone well considering the usual delays to any construction project. Surprised to see how so few have achieved so much since January, there is no stopping them as they have now set off digging up the pavement from La Roca towards the roundabout.
Hopefully all bins will be back in place by the beginning of May.

Yes I agree it looks good, we walked along to Tolos and noticed the stamping a bit hit and miss, just thought of a good game try and spot the sea shells!
Only hope cyclist don't use it as a motorway ?
Never seen so many cyclist this year and dragging their cycles with them on the flights out,not good for the hire shops that have sprung up in the Port

I'm with you about the trees. Let's hope they fill the gaps with some sort of Tarmac like they have in other places in town.

Molt

I did read something about this but can't remember where, but it was saying that tarmac or cement was not a good idea with gravel being the best way to go, so maybe they are waiting on a decision on what to use and this is why it's been left for now.

Or metal grating like they have at the bypass, the plants need to be able to get water and air so can't use concrete or tarmax

I would certainly prefer to see the metal gratings being used again - they are far more pleasing on the eye. It is a shame that most around the port have been replaced with pink tarmacy stuff

Getting on with the bit in front of the old el Ancla site now, and you will notice there are using drop kerbs??
